What do you guys and girls in the US think of Beckham i heard on my local radio news that you guys think he is something special is there any truth to this or is it a pack of lies.....
I voted no. But that's just me personally, I don't really like the guy. I don't speak for all of America though, he is pretty much a celebrity here. For some reason the gossip media loves the guy and his no talent wife. They like to talk about anybody making and spending ridiculous amounts of money. I never see anybody talking about him as one of the greats in his sport, usually it's just about his personal life.
Agree there with you someinfidel on his no talent wife but i was wondering why it has taken you guys so long to see Beckham as a celeb as he has lost his appel over here in the UK now. He was massive 1-2 yrs ago but not so much now he plays his footy in Spain.....

"Is" or "Was" something special, is more like it. The only people thinking about him at all are soccer fans or those who read the "entertainment" page with its celebrity news.
I think the World Cup really boosted him up to Celebrity status all around the world. Even in the US, where your brand of "football" isnt very popular, everyone knows who he is/what he looks like/who his wife is.. etc...In fact, he's probably more well known than US players..
In Japan, he is a GOD. And im pretty sure all over the world as well..
