St. Louis Cardinals 2006 World Series Champs!! Red Sox, White Sox and Cards back to back to back...wouldn't the Scrubs fans love to see that?
I'm afraid St. Louis had their best shot for a World Series title in 2004 and 2005. They're getting older and they keep losing key guys through free agency. They do benefit from playing in a division that doesn't offer much serious competition.

I think they'll be good enough to win 95 games this season, make the postseason, and once you're there, anything can happen. Look at all the Wild Card WS participants lately. Their offensive core of Pujols, Edmonds and Rolen is still intact (with Rolen and Edmonds likely performing better than their subpar '05 campaigns) and the pitching staff will still be solid. I don't like them as much as I did going into '05, but they'll be there with a chance in October.
I'll tell ya what a few months ago...I was really worried about the Red Sox, now I can say I'm excited for the season to get going. I mean anyone would be worried not having a center fielder or shortstop. I'm really excited about the addition of coco crisp and we have a pretty good pitching staff and picked up some good middle relievers if they all play to their potential. We'll also need Foulke to have a big bounce back year. I'm also looking forward to see how this completely new infield is...I think it's going to be an exciting year in boston.

NOW, we're talking! I agree with your above, only that I am nervous about the starting pitching a bit. Schilling NEEDS to be healthy and Foulke, like you said, needs to recover. Hopefully Beckett will be as-advertised.
The Cards have the Phillies today to open...Chris Carpenter on the mound, and he has been stellar in spring training games. Hopefully he can continue to pitch that way. It should be an interesting season...go Cards!!
