After watching a CLASSIC game, I have to think the polls should stay the same. Why put any other 1-loss team in front of them??? Is Florida, Arkansas, or USC obviously better than UM??? And before anyone says something about the 500 yards of offense that OSU put up, think back to the yards USC and Texas put up in the BCS champ. game last year....Don't think that is a valid point to put down on UM...That said....I don't WANT a rematch....but if you put #1 vs. #2...IMO, that would be OSU and UM....Now, if either Arkansas or USC go through their conferences with one loss, there is a valid argument to have either of them second....
WHAT A GAME!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE CFB!!!!!
^^ me too, what a game, i picked michigan on my pool too, and won it by 4 points, i was routing for OSU though, i really do hope they dont stick notre dame in instead of michigan, because they beat them by 14, and plus i'd live to see that around new years
I feel that Michigan has earned a #2 spot, but like Jim Tressel stated before OSU winning today, the two teams in the BCS Championship game should bot have won their respective conferences. Great game today though, OSU/Michigan always is......
There absolutely should not be a rematch in the title game. It would be plainly unfair to OSU, although today's game could easily have gone either way. The thing about USC right now is that they beat the SEC's current best (Arkansas) this season already...by 36 points. That's a pretty big bargaining chip when it comes to the BCS standings.
I was at the game and Ive got to say it was the greatest game i had ever been to, even better than the 2002 OSU UM game where OSU went on to win the National Championship. It was rediculous how many people were in and around the stadium today and inside the stadium it was so loud you couldnt hear either band, the ref or the scoreboard. This was probably the greatest sports experience in my life, never gonna forget it.
I still think UM is #2, but they had their shot today to claim the title and missed out, its another teams turn to get spanked by the BUCKS
Well this disappointed Michigan fan thinks some other team should get a shot, UNLESS that team turns out to be Notre Dame whom Michigan crushed in South Bend. Yesterday was a great one. That bonehead helmet to helmet hit on Smith sealed the deal. I think the best team won, though. Congrats to those nuts from Columbus.
Well, BCS rankings are out and Meechigan is still #2....for now. USC is close behind and according to the talking heads would likely pass UM if they beat ND and UCLA in their final games. LOL...Urban Meyer is having a cow calling for immediate change to the BCS if the rematch b/t OSU/UM happens. I don't want to see it, but perhaps Urban needs to realize the two best teams can come from one conference and that that is all the BCS is supposed to do....Would he be crying if it were UF and LSU for example??? I don't think so. I'm just hoping we get to see OSU and USC....to me that would be the best game after watching how the teams have played the last couple of weeks...
If USC beats Notre Dame, they'd get a big enough boost in the computer polls and probably pass UM in the human polls as well. They'd have wins over two teams which would likely both be in the top 10 in the BCS at season's end (Arkansas and Notre Dame).
Everyone makes great points ... for a playoff! I believe there is another thread discussing this but a playoff would be huge. I believe the REAL national title game would rival with the super bowl and all the playoff games would generate much more than the current system (we all know it comes down to $$$$ ... NCAA should realize that they would make much more with a playoff system).
Speaking of ND, they definitely do not deserve a title shot, even if they beat USC big. And to any ND fans who disagree with me, remember how upset we all were when FSU won the nat'l title over us in '93 even though we beat FSU. Same concept here except reversed.

One of the guys on ESPN (Mark May, I believe) brought up a valid point that I had not thought of or heard before...IF there was a playoff for a "true" national champion, how would OSU and UM have played the game Saturday??? He suggested that since both teams would undoubtedly be in the top 8 even after one loses that in order to have the best shot at a national championship, it is conceivable that they rest their starters... Now, to me that would really dilute the meaning of college football. But in reality, it would probably happen...there has been a lot of discussion about how the NFL reg. season is important but a team w/ 2 losses or more can still win the whole thing...not true in CFB. 2 losses and you are toast....As exciting as a playoff would be, I think it would detract from that great thing we call CFB. I would hate to think the intensity would intentionally be turned down in your biggest rivalry game to ensure a shot at a championship..huh??...that's a big oxy-moron... You win each week, and you deserve to be there. Anyway, the controversy is half the fun!!!

There would be no benefit in resting starters when a potential playoff wouldn't even have to start for another month or so, especially if it were limited to 8 teams. Regular season NFL games between rivals bound for the playoffs are no less intense just because they may meet in the playoffs and I don't buy the argument that it would be any different in CFB.

I don't think it would be a month or so layoff....that would mean a month off then playing 3 more weeks ending in mid Feb??? Get too many teams involved along w/ a 12 to 13 game schedule and the season will drag on like the NBA....It would have to start immediately or risk the season being crazy-long....And though I cannot sight specific examples, I do remember some NFL games that are usually the "big ones" that are watered down with 2nd stringers by the 2nd quarter....but...you may be right and the integrity that CFB has will be maintained and the coaches would play the game the way it should be played...one can only hope.
