At a race, you can bring your own beer. They check coolers at the gate, and all glass has to be left there, so no glass bottles (thank God). You can also buy beer at the concession stand, but no one in his right mind is going to pay $6 for one beer.
The idiots who throw beer cans on a race track don't love racing. They're fanatics who would rather see anyone win than whoever just did. Eventually, they'll ruin it for everyone, and no one will be allowed a cooler inside the track. In the days when only "rednecks" went to the races, this kind of thing didn't happen. Guess what that says for the rest of society.
