With how many World Series Championships? It's a great accomplishment but they leave the job half done.

I'm just hoping that thehatedYankees (that is 1 word, right)

You betcha it's one word. Although as a "young person", I was an avid baseball fan, over the years, I find myself falling asleep between pitches! Too boring to watch unless it's the World Series with a chance for ANYONE to beat the Yankees.

However, I do remember fondly the days of Jim Palmer, Brooks Robinson, Rick Dempsey (sliding on the infield raincover), and a young Cal Ripken. Sign of old age, I guess......

Well, after being pretty confident the Cubs would make the Wild Card when I started this thread, I'm just hoping they make it into the playoffs. I guess I can't take anything for granted. Looks like they're in a tight one against the Reds today. Judging from the way the Cubs bullpen likes to pitch, it's not looking good.

Add to this the fact that Rusch is pitching a 3 hit 1 run game in the 7th and the only run the Cubs have scored is a homerun by Rusch himself. Cards fan, I'm cheering for you guys against the Astros tonight.

GO CARDS!! That being said, I doubt we'll beat the Stros tonight. Tony La Russa has been making boneheaded moves all series and I can't figure out why. On Monday night, the Cards were down 9-3 in the 7th but had the bases loaded and Albert Pujols on deck, yet he pinch hit Yadier Molina for him? Got me on that one. I really don't care who wins the wildcard, so long as they lose to us!!

Maybe I'll just wait until 2008. That'll be the 100 year anniversary and the time the curse gets broken, I hope? Well, Prior just pitched 9 innings of 3 hit, 1 run ball. It's in the 10th right now. Please don't lose another close one in extra innings!

Or how about 2908? 1000 years sounds more like it to me, hahaha

Only a thousand years? If only Cubs fans could be so lucky...

Well, now we're a full game back of the Astros. Looking very bleak as their series is against the Rockies and the Cubs have the Braves. Too bad they wasted Prior's 16 strikeout outing.

Over on the ESPN forums all the idiots are coming out of the woodwork telling us Card fans that we threw our series against the Astros because we didn't want the Cubs in the playoffs. Yet the Astros had won 12 in a row at home before they played us. It never ceases to amaze me how silly some people can get. Again, thank you victory for creating a place where I can discuss at least one sport that I love without sifting through the endless posts created by mindless people.

If the Cubs are going to make it into the post season they better take care of their own games and not worry about what the other teams are doing. Scoreboard watching can, and will, get you beat.

I agree about that one. If you can't win your own games then why complain about someone else losing theirs?

I was chatting with a lot of Cubs fans over at the Illini fan forums and the same was being said about the Astros/Cards. The University of Illinois campus is about 2 to 2 1/2 hours south of Chicago so it's comprised of Cubs/Sox/Cards fans. The same goes for football with Bears and Rams fans. There were a lot of Cards fans over at the Illini fan forum telling Cubs fans to stop complaining and keep track of their own games. All I can say to that is if the Cubs took care of their own business, they would be in the playoffs.

What adds to the sting is there's a good chance both the Cards and the Astros will be in.
