The World Series deserves its own thread so i decided to make one.

So who is everyone cheering for? I like the Cards!

The introductions for the players makes me think they should have a whole World Series Opening Ceremonies dedicated to it. Then the players can all parade around with their wives/girlfriends like the Ryder cup.

IMO, this years series shows what a joke the "home field advantage" tag added to the All-Star game is. I'm not a fan of either team, I just think that home field needs to go to the team with the best record. It happens in every other round, yet when it matters, they rely on an exhibition game to decide things. STL kicked everyone around all year, now they're starting the series on the road vs. a Wild Card team with an inferior record. MLB has many issues, this is one of the more glaring ones.

tony, that's a good point you have there. The Cardinals shouldn't be penalized because their league representatives lost a pretty meaningless exhibition game. The MLB just screwed things up last year and they had to come up with this unfair solution to cover themselves.

Yup. I don't remember what happened in the All-Star game this year, except that apparently the AL won. Some meaningful game they have there in July, huh?

Well, it looks like the Red Sox are up 1-0. If this series holds the form of the Cards/Astros series, it would certainly be a shame.

Looks like a lot of big numbers are going to be put up. The Red Sox would score but the Cards kept coming back until the bottom of the 8th.

Woo hoo! The Sox won! They haven't won since 1918 so I'm cheering for them.

We may see tonight whether or not the Cards are in a tough hole. If they lose, they're obviously in one as they'll be down 0-2. If Schilling goes out there with another great performance, that means they'll have to deal with the Schilling/Pedro duo and take a couple of games from them.

I just saw a report that said this might be Schilling's last start in this World Series. He's been feeling a lot more discomfort after they re-sutured his tendons for this game. The doctors may decide that if he does it again, it may cause permanent damage. Bad news for the Sox but the last time they thought he wouldn't pitch again, he came in and threw a gem.

Well, Schilling's made it through 3 with no runs allowed. Cards had a good chance in the 2nd inning but the Sox made some plays to keep it at 2-0 Red Sox.

It looks like the Red Sox are going to continue to commit defensive errors. Would it surprise anyone if they lost it in game 7 because of an error? The only thing here is the Red Sox would be last to bat so they would get a chance to "right" it but it would make for some interesting storylines.
