NCAA Football Rivalry Weekend

I realize it's probably too late to have a contest now, but that doesn't mean we can't talk about it. This weekend is known as "rivalry week" in college football. Many bitter rivals are going to renew acquaintences this weekend. OSU-Michigan. FSU-Florida. Auburn-Alabama. Cal-Stanford. Washington-Washington St. Clemson-South Carolina. BYU-Utah. Several of these games have BCS bowl implications, so interest should be high. So give us your take on the games of the weekend that interest you. Which rivalries do you follow closely? Which do you think are the best?

For me, I'd have to go with OSU-Michigan as the best rivalry. Although I'm a Florida St. fan, our rivalry with the Gators has really only meant a lot on the national scene for the past 15 years, while the Buckeyes and Wolverines' matchup has been key for far longer than that. It seems like one of the teams always has a gaudy record and high aspirations going into the game, only to have the other beat them and destroy their chances. With the game being played in Columbus, this sets up for another case of that. Still, I think Michigan wins in the end. FSU and Florida, as a Nole fan I cannot go with anyone but them. Auburn-Alabama and Cal-Stanford also have bit time BCS implications, if not national title implications in Auburn's case, so I'll be keeping my eye on those games as well. Utah will need to win their Holy War battle to keep any shot they have at a BCS games alive, and it would also help their case if Michigan were to lose to OSU. The other two games I mentioned don't really hold any significance to the bowl picture, but should be interesting as neighbors square off in SC and WA. It's gonna be a great weekend for college football, I'll be ready come tomorrow afternoon!

The OSU-Michigan game has lost some luster for me this year. OSU is having a mediocre year and is once again embroiled in the Clarett firestorm. Michigan should win, and I believe they will, but it is one of the premier rivalries in college sports and anything can happen. As for the rest of the games......where'd I leave that darned remote?

I agree in that Michigan should win, but like I said, it always seems like the team with everything to lose in that game...does.

I know about the remote thing, everytime I want to watch something I have to spend ten minutes finding the remote hidden somewhere in this room!

Well being a true Auburn fan the Iron Bowl (as it is know here) between Auburn and Alabama is this weekend and it has not lost any of its luster, The bama fans are hoping for rain and per the Weatherman it is supposed to be raining but unless Auburn gets cocking they should win.

The great thing about rivalries is that the records and how a team is playing coming into a game mean nothing! Oftentimes the team with nothing to lose whose season will be made if they beat their archrival and mess up their season wins out over the team with everything to lose. Teams like Auburn, Michigan, California, Utah, and Florida State had better be ready tomorrow, because they're gonna get their (possibly) down and out rivals' best shot!

Here is a Michigander's veiw on the Michigan- OSU game. It is the biggest game all year except for the Super Bowl and a BCS Bowl for Michigan. It is really the Big 10 Championship game. It's almost like every year it comes down to this game. This year it is just the same. Michigan wins and it returns to the Rose Bowl. I have kind of a crazy veiw on the Michigan game. If they can stop Ted Ginn Jr. they will win the game. If anyone else watched the lions play Jacksonville last week the Jags were killing the lions, untill they had to punt. That was when Eddie Drummond returned two punts for touchdowns to take the game into OT. If Ginn can be contained they will defeate OSU and their sub par QB.

Agree stlcard_25 Auburn had better be ready because Alabama has nothing to loose and a lot to gain (even if it is braging rights) by knocking Auburn off, for Auburn to come this far and loose would be awful but it has happen before, tomorrow will tell.

Getting closer all the time, but boy that first half and especially the first quarter Auburn did not look they had it together -4 yards in the first quarter, in the second half they looked more like the team they have been all year, now get past Tenn. in 2 weeks.

Auburn 21, Alabama 13

I caught just a little on the news story today but it looks as though the Pistons-Pacers Brawl has spilled over to College Football, it is ashame that sports of all levels has come down to fist fights, riots and who knows what else the way things are going it just a short time before some fan or player gets seriously injured.

Well, OSU pulled the shocker of the day, as yet again in that rivalry the team with everything to lose did. The rest of those games went kinda as expected until this evening, as Florida currently leads FSU in Tallahassee 10-3. Still plenty of time to come back for the Noles though.

Well I am deffinatly no too excited about going to school Monday. So many Ohio State fans at my school and they all said they were going to win. Ohh well OSU will go to the toliet bowl while Michigan goes to the Rose Bowl To me I almost didn't care wether or not Michigan went to the Rose Bowl or not since the Big Ten pools all the bowl money, but it will be good for scouting. As for my prediction...Michigan will lose a tight one to Cal, but Michigan will win the National Championship in two or three years. They have a new RB Kevin Grady comming in next year that runs a 4.4 40. I think that Michigan will run double back sets and Grady will run to the outside and Hart will run down the middle and they will really open up lanes for each other. And as for Ohio State... in two years they will be found guilty of paying their players including Clarette and Ted Ginn Jr. and will be banned from bowls for five years becuase there is no reason why they should of beaten us 3 out of the last 4 games.
