Who should/will win the Heisman Trophy this weekend?

Well, the end of college football's regular season is upon us and the biggest prize, the BCS National Championship, is yet to be decided, but there are still individual awards to hand out. It seems as though the leading candidates for the Heisman Trophy this year are a pair of players from each of the top 2 (in the BCS) teams: Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush from USC, and Jason White and Adrian Peterson from Oklahoma. Cedric Benson of Texas might also be in the mix, as possibly could Utah's Alex Smith So, the questions beg: Who do you think deserves the trophy most for their play this year (the poll is for you to answer this question)? Also, who do you think will win it on Saturday (answer in the thread)?

I personally feel Adrian Peterson deserves it most of any of them with his performance this season. He was absolutely dominant at times and showed up huge in some of the biggest games for OU of the year. If I were a voter, this is how my vote would look:
1. Peterson
2. Leinart
3. White
4. Benson
5. Smith

However, I feel White will win again, simply because a lot of voters will look at the numbers he had this year, see that they were better than last year, when he won the Heisman, and vote for him again. I think the voting will play out as:
1. White
2. Leinart
3. Peterson
4. Bush
5. Benson

Card- Benson wasn't invited and he plays for Texas not Utah. Alex Smith from Utah is going to New York.

UT= University of Texas. I put Benson because more probably feel he's worthy than feel Smith is worthy.

I have to disagree about Benson. In Texas' single biggest game of the year they get shut out. Just doesn't sound like Heisman material to me.

That's true, but he had a good enough year otherwise to merit being in the list IMO. Smith, his team did great, but was the competition worthy enough to merit a Heisman selection? I don't think. BTW, I don't think Benson is worthy of winning it either, but I think he had one of the top 4 years of all the NCAA football players.

I think Alex Smith will suprise some people though. I think a lot of the vote will be split with Bush/Leinart and Peterson/White. Bush is the best overal player in college football but he is still too young to win it. I think Leinart will win it with the huge game he had agiasnt ND. I don't think too many people watched the UCLA game with all the confernce championships happening.

No it doesn't even though I have an autographed football by him. I don't know very much about him but did he have a Heisman nominated QB and was the previous years Heisman returning?

I was kind of suprised to see ESPN.com's poll on this.
Peterson- 36.8%
Leinhart- 23.7%
Bush- 15.7%
Smith- 12.7%
White- 10.8%
Only 10,292 votes are in but that is solid for Peterson. White at the bottom is suprising.

Can someone tell me how Benson wins best RB but Peterson goes to the Heisman ceromony. It seems like if I'm voting I would'nt vote one guy for best RB then another RB for Heisman.

How about Alex Smith? He never underperformed (like White (texas) and Leinart (ucla) have in some games...getting bailed out by Peterson and Bush..)... but hes gonna be 5th... i bet White wins it again..
