apart from that it was the guttsiest defensive performance weve had since we beat Barca 1-0 away when we won the UEFA cup in 01.

Oh, my! Not a very gracious reaction to a hard-fought win for Chelsea.

It has been worth every pound, by the way. :nodsmiley

Liverpool certainly distinguished itself with its fine play in the game. Will Gerrard be in Blue next season?

Chelsea advances!

Chelsea defeated Barcelona 4-2 yesterday to advance on a aggregate score of 5-4 in the two qualifying games. All the sweeter is that my favorite player John Terry scored the goal that won the series with a header in the second half.

Barcelona shot off their mouths about how pathetic Chelsea played in their meeting in Spain; I wonder how they feel about the pathetic Blues now?

Manchester United fell to AC Milan in their game yesterday and lost the series 0-2.

The Chelsea game was a classic...

I really wanted them to win...after Barca were so cocky...not that Chelsea arent cocky of course.

As for tonight...Liverpool will want revenge for the last minute exit at Leverkusen two years ago...so I think we'll pull through.

Im not sure about Arsenal though.... Im not sure if they really have the stomach for these really big European matches.

Wow, what a game!! The first half of that match was the best 45 mins of football I have seen in a long long time!!

Ronaldinho's second goal was pure genius, see how his left foot stayed planted the whole way through it? I have to admit, I was kind of dissappointed at Barcelona going out, but was also happy that Chelsea won, for some reason but my God, what a game!!

BTW, did anyone see what happened with Ronaldinho at the end of the game in the tunnel? He appeared to be getting in a little fight with someone.

Well it was a serene passage for Liverpool..... nuff said

my sincere condolences to Arsenal

So we have two English teams in the last 8.... and for the first time in 12 years... NO SPANISH TEAM

I remeber Ronaldhino saying that no English team would win it this year...that may be true... but whats that saying?

You gotta be in it to win it

One side note...I watched the end of the Real vs Juventus match and they brought Owen on in the last minutes.... with some of the performances Real have had recently he must be shaking his head thinking... 'why cant I get a game in this shower of sh....'

Yesterday's Champions League games saw both English teams win their games, but one team was ousted and one emphatically advanced on the aggregate score.

B Leverkusen 1-3 Liverpool, with Liverpool winning 6-2 in the aggregate score.

Arsenal 1-0 Bayern Munich, with Arsenal losing the aggregate 2-3.

Thus, two English teams advance in Champions League play, with both having good chances!

You're quite welcome TyeDye. To be honest, I hadn't noticed that your post referred to yesterday's games. I guess that I was too caught up in the excitement of both Chelsea and Liverpool advancing and Arsenal making a sporting bid.

Liverpool is playing well at the moment, and the ease with which they advanced has to inspire confidence at this critical point.

Liverpool did well, but they had by far the easiest draw for that round - I'd guess every team in the hat wanted to be drawn with Leverkeusen.

Looking at the last 8 (one match still outstanding) you wouldn't make Liverpool favourites to beat any remaining side. Wouldn't be surprised to see an all Italian final.

Your right we had the easisest draw of the four English teams....but there are no mugs at this level....Leverkusen won their group and have shown a good pedigree in the Champions league over the last 5 years.

As for our chances of winning...Rafa Benitez said the other day.....'We have a better European pedigree than last years finalists, Monoca and Porto...so why noy Liverpool?...... still Ill have my fingers crossed that we draw PSV Eindhoven.
