I think it's bad and is a big part of the reason why several QBs set all sorts of records and had career highs this season (see P Manning's stats). Corners can't play defense and all the penalties slow down the game. Regardless in the end the two best teams in the NFL (New England and Pittsburgh) are the ones who play defense.
Basically, when a receiver starts on the beginning of the play, the defender usually give them a bump, like a small block to try and slow there pace and throw off the qb's timing, now, they cant bump them after the receiver has ran 5 yards or its a penalty
Well I guess most folks like all of the scoring , but I think the rule stinks. All of the rule changes since the '70s have served the passing game & literally taken away the CBs ability to play football. It's more like 2-hand touch, there's more contact allowed in hoops. Just another reason why we can't compare passing records set today with those of the pre-mid-'70s era. grumble...grumble...
