I enjoy this time of year so much nascar auto racing back on.
the golf pro ams the only 2 honest sports in my eyes no refs,no umpires, and bad calls.. just my 2 cents worth later........

NASCAR and Pro-Ams honest? Someone or some team gets fined practically every race for skirting the rules. Let's not even get into the handicaps involved in the PGA Tour Pro-Ams. Both however, can be entertaining when taken in moderation!
family went up to Daytona speedway over new yrs. and took the tour. it was rather impressive and they do a great job there. the I-max film of the history of the speedway kept your attention.
can't imagine how loud that must be when all those gas guzzling engines get moving. it would be fun to see at least once.
gentleman, turn the key
stagday
won't be near as fun when they will be racing fuel cell cars.
I'm not the biggest race fan around but I have attended several NASCAR races at Michigan International Raceway. If you stand along the Start/Finish line in the main grandstand (15 feet or so above the track) as the line of cars comes by it sucks the air right out of you! You simply cannot imagine the speed and power and TV cannot present the true speed. 200 mph was just a number to me until I stood above that Start/Finish line.

the same thing has been said when I swing the club,

Did I mention the 30 car pile-up the quickly ensued?

It is funny how fast these guys are actually going. I always thought this is something I could do. That was until I went to a race and watched cars going 170 mph into a corner staying a couple of inches off each other. They are amazingly louder than you would imagine, and the smell of the burning fuel and the rubber is something you wont forget.
I am amped for Daytona, but give me Bristol or Richmond under the lights any day
Went to martinsville once when i lived in Va. Actually won tickets and part of a prize package for 1st place in a tournament sponsered by a radio station there. Man was it fun. the short bullring hardly any passing and lots a wrecks

Well it was nice that he finally got that monkey off his back. It's just not my thing , although I do want to see one live someday.
although not a race fan, I did flip between the golf tourney and the d.500. it was an exciting finish. amazing how 250,000 fans can sit there for over 5 hours.

Sorry to point it out but there are more ref and umpires at a nascar race than any two sports combined. 45 on pit road alone. And if thats not bad enough they have let computers decide running positions when a yellow flag comes out.
Rules can also change from week to week. Its ruining the sport in my mind. Its all in the unattainable goal of complete driver safety but its time to get back to our roots before the race looks more like a convoy than a competition.

As one that has attended the Indianapolis 500 10+ times along with numerous practice/qualifying sessions and the Brickyard 5 times, I can honestly say that 250,000 fans don't sit the whole time...about 1/2 pass out before the end of the race.
