Golf in Houston

I'm sure there are some golfers here from Houston. I was just wondering as I am still just getting into golf, could you guys recommend any courses here in Houston in the under $30 range. Once I begin to shoot lower scores then I wouldn't mind paying more money. As of right now I would just be yelling profanities knowing I spent $60 to play golf and score 120. Any suggestions would be great. I typically play on the weekends so weekend fees ( plus cart) would be what I am looking for.

Thanks

Pine Crest, Bear Creek, Tour 18, Winrose, Longwood, Houston national, Cypresswood, Greatwood, Southwyck, treeline, Stephen F. Austin State Park (Sealy), and there are many more they just do not come to mind right this moment.

Well I think of it this way...I get more strokes for my $60 than my buddy who shoots in the mid 80's.

Go the the website:

http://www.golfcourse.com/

They have a great search engine under their "Advance Search" link which allows you to find various types of golf courses in just about any major metropolitan area in the U.S., Canada and several foriegn countries. You can even filter your selections based on things like the amount of greens fees, public, private, semi-private, and radius from a whatever city or town you are interested in. The information includes scorecards and some user feedback by golfers that have actually played the course.

Re: Golf in Houston

I don't live in Houston, but did go down there a few weeks ago for a business trip. I played Blackhorse and Tour18. Tour18 is a very nice course and if you play during the week in the mornings you can play for around $35. That is a steal as far as I am concerned. It was a very nice course, good shape, and interesting since it is a replica of 18 courses on the PGA tour. Here is a link:

Tour 18 Houston - America's Greatest Eighteen Holes

You can go to their Tee TIme specials and find some good deals. Also, I had a thread earlier this month where I asked about courses from Houston. If you do a search on Golf Houston, you should find the thread I started.

Good Luck,
Tim
