I am going down for 2 weeks starting tomorow I would like to know of some courses down there. I dont want the top courses just some cheaper public courses.
I'm not sure if it's good or not, but I'm going down next Thursday for a meeting and have a tee time booked at Tangle Ridge (www.tangleridge.com). I think it is about $50.
I played the Creek Course at the Indian Creek public golf course in Carrollton last week (Carrollton is a northern suburb of Dallas not too far away from DFW Airport). Really nice course laid out along the Trinity River that has recently been redesigned and upgraded. I have never seen such lush grass on a course in Texas in mid summer. The $50-60 green fee (including cart) is well worth it. http://www.golfersweb.com/golfdfw/indian.htm
I was in the grand prarie area. I went to river... ?? I forget the rest of the name and then I was going to go to the other course that was close by but never got to it.

Riverside. Good track but has flooding/drainage issues. It was shut down last year for renovations. I think it just reopened not too long ago.
Play the Texas Star course in Ft. Worth for sure. Other Honorable mentions:
Grapevine golf course, Cowboys course, Sugar Tree, Bear Creek, Tennison Park to name a few. You can go on Golfsw/tx.com and check courses out too.
Good luck and remember to play the Bump and run on thier hard fairways, not to forget the windy conditions or the Texas wedge.

I recommend Waterchase, just off I 30 (Eastchase Pkwy exit) in East Fort Worth. ARound 50 to 75, but a nice layout. Tierra Verde in S. Arlington is also a good track.
