Cricket and rugby?
Sadly, we have never been World Champions at cricket, and have only once won the Rugby world cup.

Anyone heard of a basketball, ice hockey or baseball world cup? I don't think so.

I have heard of Michael Jordan on my many visits to USA, and have seen him play.Even though I am not a fan of basketball (your opinion of soccer is higher than mine of basketball) , I can appreciate obvious talent.

The point which you seem unable/unwilling to grasp is that most people in the world attach little importance to baseball/basketball/grdiron or ice hockey. 400 million Americans love them , 3 billion Indians prefer cricket.

Uh, I think it is more like 250 million Americans, and maybe close to 300 million if you count our brothers in Canada. Bottom line is the people in North America have more money to spend on entertainment then the 900 million Indians (I think that's the right figure). Money talks, and you know what walks.

Possibly if any one European country had a group of players worth creating a marketable tour around, they'd prefer to stay on their home turf as well.

The point is that
I am talking about the whole world, travelling to Ernie's home patch in South Africa, Greg home in Oz , not just USA. Europeans travle the same distances on the Euro Tour as USA players do on the uSa Tour, but when it comes to crossing the Atlantic, USA golfers rarely do.International golfers travel for competition, USA golfers sit at home, watching the

USA golfers stay at home because the best competition in golf is right here, at home! More money here too!

As you might have noticed the OG vs YG match is over... Now we are on to the USA vs the World match. My Avitar of Larry the Cable Guy tipping the old lady out of her wheel chair will be set aside in favor or something patriotic. Until the OG YG rematch that is...
As far as there being any xenophobia, I think that's going a bit too far, there is no fear or contempt for the foreigners, we just happen to prefer baseball over cricket and football over soccer or rugby. And we see no reason the PGA tour should internationalize it's tournament venues. The opposite is true in some cases. There's nothing wrong with that.

Honestly your post might be the first xenophobic drivel in this thread, but I'll defend your right to say it.

This thread is old, tired, and boring. It doesn't go anywhere useful. I vote we either close it down, or set up a new forum for boring pointless threads...

I agree this thread should be closed, and we do have a forum for pointless boring threads. It is called "Fun and Games".

I must point one thing out. The PGA TOUR doesn't Internationalize its schedule for ONE main reason. There is one thing on PGA TOUR that those of us in the United States leave off...the US. Just like the European PGA TOUR, Asian PGA TOUR, etc...the PGA TOUR we watch, while considered the pinnacle of golf competition in the world is neither a WORLD Tour nor any kind of International Tour. It is the United States Professional Golf Association TOUR not to be confused with the United States Professional Golf Association.
