droogy, I'm with you on Phil...but geesh, if he hadn't of made the 5 bogies on the front on Saturday, he'd be in the thick of things (now Sunday, he's -3 on day on 5 holes; -8 overall and 4 behind the leader).....argghhhhh.
I'm a bit disappointed. Not to take anything away from the winner, but the fact that 0 of the Big Five will be contending in this thing kind of ruins the week, for me at least. I'd like at least to see Hamilton or Verplank their on the 18th hole b/c they have some name recognition, but it appears none of the Big Guns are on their game this week. I guess that's what happens when you narrow the fairways and grow the rough. It eliminates the big names.

oh excuses, excuses for the Big 5. They just all slumped at the same time. It happens. Watch for the US Open.
Vijay gave it a bit of a run...finished eagle, birdie...ya know, he may not be the most popular player and of course anyone making an ace gets a good response from the gallery but he sure was acknowledging the crowd and they were certainly reciprocating...I could almost feel the love.
One of the reasons I think you are not seeing the big guns in the finals is this course is not set set-up for the power hitters. Sometimes not often it pays to have little less power out was one time.
Bulls, you know I'm a Phil Phan. Once again Phil made a late-tournament charge toward the top 10, but, alas, came up just a tad short. But this excites me.
I've been following The Mick's progress since he joined the TOUR. In his early years he'd kind of pack it in and 45th place ties would remain just that. It's nice to see Phil grinding it out and trying to get the maximum out of the minimum.
Phil appears to be very close to putting a complete four-round tournament together. Like Lanny Wadkins said today, I'd look out for Phil at this week's Colonial.
The more I see the TPC at Las Colinas, the more I like it. I think it's one of the under-rated courses on the PGA TOUR; a fine Jay Moorish design. Most of Moorish's courses are very good.
And what a final round for Purdy! How does a guy who has never won on TOUR hit 17 of 18 greens with the championship on the line? And with the legendary host waiting to greet him! Great stuff!
And Sean O'Hair! This guy looked fantastic...and he's only 22. I'll definitely be following Sean's development.
And Vijay. What more can anyone say? The guy's amazing!
That run got him back the number one ranking I believe....so congrats to him for taking advantage of the situation.
It appears that this statement earlier by me was incorrect. Vijay needed a solo third to take back the number one and since he tied for third, Tiger remains in front by .07 points. It's actually pretty likely that just by Tiger's loss of points in the coming weeks, Vijay will take back the number one spot regardless of whether he has any high finishes.
I read that the margin is so close, they could actually swap spots during the next two weeks while neither one plays a tournament. After that, they both go at it at the Memorial, which Tiger has had quite a bit of success. I can't remember if Vijay has won it or not (I seem to think yes, but can't remember it.), but the way he's going the past couple years, I'd almost guarantee he'll be up there.
Sean's story is really interesting. Anybody know what really happened between him and his dad?
Didn't his Dad spend big $$$ sending him to golf schools, tournaments, etc., and then DEMANDED that Sean sign a contract commiting to pay his Dad back $2M?? Needless to say - they live separate lives now.
NOTE - I followed Sean around quite a bit at the Nelson this week. He's the REAL DEAL. This kid has a wonderful swing, and a great temperament. Look for him to be a winner soon, me thinks!

Not exactly. The US Open is most famous for this practice and below are the champions in this millenium:
