Why I"m glad you asked! Here's a post I've saved just for this question!
Dallas TX area golf courses
The following website has a good list of course directories & reviews:
http://www.golfguideweb.com/texas/texas.html
There are many great courses here, but these are my favorites:
Bridlewood - expen$ive, but nice
Buffalo Creek - a very interesting and challenging layout in Rockwall, TX
Castle Hills - another fine design and challenging layout
Cowboys GC - Expen$ive, but beautiful. Course conditioning is wonderful.
Coyote Ridge - mid priced, a decent local public course, with a somewhat crowded layout.
Fossil Creek - a reasonably priced, interesting layout
Grapevine GC - recently re-done with improvements, but always busy on the weekends
Heritage Ranch - further North, on US-75/Stacy exit, 972-549-0276, a nice little course. Lee Trevino's son (Tony) is the head pro.
Iron Horse in Fort Worth - challenging, but a nice layout with lots of trees and creeks
Lantana - better play it before it goes Private! Nice facility and conditioning. Plenty of bunkers.
Links at WaterChase - Wonderful fairways and greens, a real hidden gem in the Arlington area
Plantation - GPS systems, friendly staff.
Ridgeview Ranch - 972-390-1039, another fun course with a nice layout.
Tierra Verde - A rugged, beautiful gem of a course, with natural, rugged beauty.
Texas Star - A very challenging layout, with penalizing rough and hazard areas.
Trails of Frisco
Tour18 - a nice layout, interesting, with replica holes of famous courses worldwide.
Twin Creeks -
www.twincreeks.com, 972-390-8888 in Allen, more upscale, very fast greens, but a nice place.
