Byron Nelson predictions

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I think Sergio will put this collapse behind him and win the EDS Byron Nelson Classic.

Sergio should have a solid week, but with the field being even tougher this week, it's going to be a challenge. Besides Mickelson, Woods and Singh, Els and Goosen join the field, two players who have been playing solid golf. I'm going to go with Ernie Els this week. His game was struggling in March and early April, but I think he's got it back with a good performance at the Johnnie Walker and then an incredible win last week.

Going to feel like a major this week. I believe this is only the 3rd time all year the top 5 guys are in the field.

I will be there and will take plenty of pics.

But i think all the top 5 guys have a good chance.

It is going to be mid 80's all week with sunshine.

Many thanks, Cole_21...contributions like this make GR an even greater place. Try to get one of Lord Byron himself if you can...he's a living legend and probably won't be with us a whole lot longer. I love this tourney - one of the most prestigious of the non-majors. Not sure who I'll pick...strong field. Thanks again, Cole.

Yes, I know.

That is what I plan on getting pics of first is Lord Byron, himself. I have met him before and he is a great guy/legend.

The way Phil lit it up on Sunday, I'm hoping he carries that momentum into the first couple rounds at the Nelson. I'd love to see Phil win his career high-tying fourth victory of the year.

Whenever this event comes around, I'm reminded of Sergio Garcia's first appearance at the Byron Nelson. Unlike every other golf who meets and greets Lord Byron as they come off the 18th green, Sergio actually went to one knee and shook Byron's hand. When later asked why, Sergio said it wouldn't have been right that the great and legendary Byron Nelson should have to look up into his eyes. Now that is class.

My prediction? I predict I see a LOT of hoochies and trophy mommie wannabees. The Nelson is notorious for one of the hottest "off-course" experiences and beautiful young women all over the drinking establishments on and off the course.

Just ask Tommy Armour III about how much fun he has here!

Hey Darrell - do you BELIEVE the hoochies we get to see at the Nelson! I can't ever figure out if I want to watch the golf, or the scenery!

Actually - I enjoy the Colonial a LOT more. The course is easier to walk, and there are 2-3 places that have multiple teeboxes and greens right next to each other.

where do you play at? I'm a member of Great Southwest GC in Grand Prairie, but before I went private, I played all over the Metroplex. I kept a checklist, and i think I've played every public course with the exception of just a few.

Why I"m glad you asked! Here's a post I've saved just for this question!

Dallas TX area golf courses
The following website has a good list of course directories & reviews:
http://www.golfguideweb.com/texas/texas.html

There are many great courses here, but these are my favorites:

Bridlewood - expen$ive, but nice
Buffalo Creek - a very interesting and challenging layout in Rockwall, TX
Castle Hills - another fine design and challenging layout
Cowboys GC - Expen$ive, but beautiful. Course conditioning is wonderful.
Coyote Ridge - mid priced, a decent local public course, with a somewhat crowded layout.
Fossil Creek - a reasonably priced, interesting layout
Grapevine GC - recently re-done with improvements, but always busy on the weekends
Heritage Ranch - further North, on US-75/Stacy exit, 972-549-0276, a nice little course. Lee Trevino's son (Tony) is the head pro.
Iron Horse in Fort Worth - challenging, but a nice layout with lots of trees and creeks
Lantana - better play it before it goes Private! Nice facility and conditioning. Plenty of bunkers.
Links at WaterChase - Wonderful fairways and greens, a real hidden gem in the Arlington area
Plantation - GPS systems, friendly staff.
Ridgeview Ranch - 972-390-1039, another fun course with a nice layout.
Tierra Verde - A rugged, beautiful gem of a course, with natural, rugged beauty.
Texas Star - A very challenging layout, with penalizing rough and hazard areas.
Trails of Frisco
Tour18 - a nice layout, interesting, with replica holes of famous courses worldwide.
Twin Creeks - www.twincreeks.com, 972-390-8888 in Allen, more upscale, very fast greens, but a nice place.
