Monty will have problems getting respect until/unless he manages to win a PGA Tour event. It seems ridiculus that a man who dominated in Europe so thoroughly couldn't manage to get hot one week and win in the US, but he didn't. I don't see him winning one anytime soon either, so he'll always be viewed as someone who dominated somewhat inferior competition.

I was talking about underrated players. Goosen is by no means underrated. The golf Channel is always mentioning his name in any tournament he plays. He gets the attention he deserves. I think the Golf Channel is is starting to be sympathetic for the big Goosen. He has been going through a slump lately, and can't seem to get the engines running. Don't get me wrong I love Goosen, and what makes him such a great player is the way he is honest about how his game is not up to par right now. Everytime I seem him with the press he is always saying "My game was not what it should be, and I have been playing poor." or something to that effect. He blames no one but himself which only a real man and golfer can do.

I hate the pro's, who blame everything but their own swing. Remember that guy (name forgotten) who was mad a VJ who, he claimed VJ's spikes were roughing up the grass around the cup causing his putts to miss, since he was playing right behind him. I mean come on, what kind of excuse is that.

Actually, that was Vijay who was questioning Phil Mickelson's spikes at the Masters this year. Just an FYI.

My bad. I knew it I had the just of it. I thought it was the otherway around. I just didn't want to make false accusations. I didn't think Phil would complain about something like that. But anyways, my point is made, about some Pro's blaming everything but their swings. I mean players like Phil, and Gossen would never say something to that effect.

And ZERO wins on the best Tour in the world is ZERO wins on the best tour in the world.

Monty feasted on the minnows in his backyard pond and floundered in the shark infested waters of the PGA Tour. The bottom line is that when playing on the PGA Tour........Monty was the minnow. :nodsmiley

The highest level of competition, Tour-wise, is undeniably the PGA Tour, every pro would admit to that, and the measure goes from there IMO. I agree with you League.

I think your being a little harsh on the European tour...... but I take you point

What I would say for Monty is that he earned his 7 order of Merits playing almost exclusively in Europe, now the winner invariably makes most of his money in a handful of Majors and WGCs

I guess the US Ryder Cup teams of the past 15 years have all been minnows too then, because he's certainly feasted on them......

I didn't realize that this question would stir up so much talk. But I think we are getting off topic. I am not talking about tours. I am talking about underrated players.

You're right JoryWLU, we did get way off topic. :nodsmiley We should be discussing Monty in the "Most OVERRATED Player" thread!

A phrase in Cricket is a 'flat track bully ' , in other words ,someone who dominates when the going is easy.

Aprt from a couple of US Opens when he featured strongly, Monty has always been a flat track bully.
