Thank you guys....and congrats davehowe....I just kinda had my own formula this time base on past placememts and tournament history......YEAH RIGHT !like i 'm gonna do that much research, enough of that at work.....but thanks anyway,
like lefty said yesterday, still a lot more golf to go....... :nodsmiley
So far so good, but there's lot more golf to play. With this format, I bet there's a lot of change from round to round. Seeing that Boomer and I had the same score (102) I was curious to see how many of our picks were the same, but less than half of them matched up. No doubt that a spreadsheet is a huge help in calculating the results!
Yes, Tiger, and the Big South African for me. I also need Davis Love to continue his surge (4 birdies in 7 holes) and at least make the cut.
What stinks for those of us trailing is that our scores will be deflated by 2 per person today at the least since there's a 66 on the board, one better than the 67 from yesterday. Let's hope one of our guys shoots 65 and makes it largely irrelevant

The top point earners correlate pretty closely to the leaderboard. I won that contest and of those 8 players, I happened to pick Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson, Chris DiMarco and K.J. Choi. I didn't pick Vijay (outside of my tiebreaker) but I did pick 4 of the top 8 golfers.
It's true someone could win without picking the winner (since I've already proved it). The winner might not even be in the original list of 40 players but I don't think it's possible to win this contest without picking players who more or less finish at or near the top of the leaderboard.
I could add bonus points for picking the winner of the tournament. It came across my mind before but I decided against it because I figured a player who shoots the low score of the tournament doesn't then get 5 strokes knocked off of his score. I guess it's what all of you feel the most emphasis should be placed on. Picking the winner or picking the best overall field.
I wasn't complaining about the format because it does keep you following your picks each round. I was just inquiring as to if there was a way to reward someone that picks the best fininshing order. Similar to a Super-fecta in horse racing.
