Well, Cagey, I watched every minute of the coverage today (still on now) and I not only didn't see the dragmark affect any putts, I never even saw the mark again.

Is it possible Tiger repaired it before leaving the green?

OMG, I can't believe that people will judge Tiger. I doubt anyone here can understand the preasure of the US OPEN plus being #1 in the world, and the preasure he puts on himself. Remember David Duval and his tailspin since being #1? I think Tiger Woods is just HUMAN and I am sure if any of us were in his shoes we would do things and say things that others don't agree with. Honestly I doubt he cares....

Don't know if I have it in me to watch ten straight hours of golf, I TIVO it and zoom through. Regarding Tiger repairing the damage, he did no more than quickly run his putter over it, it was still quite visible when he walked away. It is possible someone came out and fixed it before the next group. I am pleased that it didn't affect any putts, but in all honesty, that is irrelevant, he damaged it to the extent that it could have, not even the great Tiger is entitled to do something like this.

That seems to be the vibe he's giving people I guess. Tiger Woods looked into the camera and told me to stop watching golf and go mow the lawn instead.

OMG, Gimme a break. Tiger makes 85 million a year SOLELY because he is in the public eye, and the public eye can be critical. He sure as **** is going to get scrutinized every once in a while, particularly when he deserves to be. Before your heart bleeds too much for the pressures that poor Tiger has to deal with try to think about the 100+ other (less fortunate) players in the tournament. Damaging a green as he did could potentially cause trouble for a fellow competitor and that is *******. Tiger doesn't need a squadron of fans covering for him every time a critical post is made.

If this indeed true than it is far worse than Tiger throwing a temptrum throwing his clubs or even being rude to a kid asking for an autograph. This is the US Open and every putt is difficult as is. This is a fair criticism of Tiger if it is true.

And he doesn't need a squadron of anti-fans jumping all over him for little nit-picky things either, which seems to happen QUITE often. And by the way, watch your language. Use the smiley if you feel the need to curse. I've learned this the hard way, and I'm sure one of the moderators will edit your post just as they have mine in the past.

I am not an anti fan of Tiger, Tiger is the reason I became really interested in the sport. I am just not going to cut him or anyone else a break when he does something really

I already agreed that his action was unacceptable. My disagreement is with the question of whether or not he actually repaired it. We do not know. Yes, he walked away from the area immediately after the incident but there were others in his grouping who had not yet holed out. The camera left that scene prior to them exiting the green. For all we know, he may have repaired it.

Cagey, while I am a Tiger fan, I am not an apologist for him nor am I unaware of his less than perfect golf etiquette. However, if you've ever read my other posts on subject such as Michael Jackson or my least favorite golfer, Singh, you would be aware that I regularly chime in if I feel that a person is being judged without all the facts being clear. That is all I was doing with my post on this subject.....okay?

I am not trying to cover for "poor tiger", I am stating that we are all human and all make mistakes on the course. I have never damaged a green, but i have been known to throw clubs or do otherwise un-gentleman like behavior on the course. I know that some of my actions weren't proper and I am sure Tiger knows too. WE ALL (even you cageydog) do things in the heat of the moment that we wish we could take back.

I understand that what he did could cause trouble and I am sure he didnt think about that when he did it.

Guess when someone's name is Tiger Woods they have to perfect eh?

For Pete's sake, nobody is suggesting that Tiger has to be perfect. Nobody is 'judging' Tiger. Not everything is all or nothing. We are simply commenting that his tearing up the green was wrong. It was a thoughtless, selfish act, saying that it was done in the 'heat of the moment' doesn't change this.

It seems that some people can't bear the smallest criticism of TW. Whether you like it or not, Tiger did something wrong. When very famous people do something wrong, particularly when they do it in the forum for which they are famous, people will comment. It's appropriate, it helps keep balance in the universe. I bet Tiger cares less about this issue than those who seem so **** bent on defending him.

PS - for all those who jumped on one iron guy, no way am I gonna criticize a guy who can hit a 1 iron.

Maybe this thread should be renamed "Let's all and moan about what Tiger did today and start a useless argument" Last I knew, there was a major championshi going on to talk about and plenty of other stories besides this silly matter.
