15 Year Old Requesting LPGA Waiver

It does not happen to be Michelle Wie. Why can't she prove herself first. She just turned 15 this week!

I hope they laugh her right out the door.

She's never played an LPGA event, and failed to qualify for the Women's Open. What makes her think she can hop into full-fledged tour status (or at least Q-school)? This is the second story in about a month on this girl, and I'm already tired of her.

On second thought, maybe they SHOULD let her into Q-school, so NO one will feel sorry for her when she doesn't make it.

Hey, she hits it 280.......apparently she thinks that's all there is to being a top player on the LPGA Tour. Somebody needs to give this girl a dose of reality.

Who cares what she does on the driving range? Why let her past the rule if she only wants to play 10 tourneys a year? Give the spot in the tournaments to someone who is actually trying to make a living for themselves and not trying to steal the spotlight like this girl seems to be doing. No one in today's society is a two sport star. It's impossible, especially golf and tennis, that's even more traveling than Ernie and Gary Player have done, combined.

If she wants to be full time on the LPGA tour, then it's a different story. But if she only does 10 tourneys or less, I say no way. Wait till your 18 girl, rules and regulations exist for reason. It's people like her that have lead to the downfall of American education. We see the money and bolt from an education. What happens if she gets injured and can't play golf or tennis again at something like age 25. She has nothing to fall back on.

Finally, prove yourself above all first off. Then apply for special exemption.

I thought they said her mother had a masters in education?? doesn't this indicate some sort of intelligence on her behalf?? So whats this **** "I think she's going to be really competitive in men's golf. If they won't let her play women's golf, she'll just play where she's allowed to play"?? You think that if the LPGA won't let her in, the PGA will feel sorry for her and think "that was mean of the women to not let you play. wanna tee up at the Player's Championship?" Just because she can hit it 280? Come on. If i could hit it 280, i doubt i could make the men's tour, and i'm a pretty good putter.

She thinks she could play the men because she plays the back tees at her home course. I'm pretty sure that the PGA courses are going to be longer than anything she plays, with longer, uglier rough, and faster greens. And she needs help with her putting to begin with. She doesn't have a chance.

What a joke of an article. Another example of why espn.com ! She wants a waiver from the LPGA. She also wants to become a tennis pro. So what does she shoot ? Has she played tennis competitively ? At what level ? What sort of game does she have ? Either golf or tennis ? If any of you picked up answers to any of these, IMO, rather important questions considering her aspirations clue me in. She's hit it 280, supposedly and would like to improve her putting. ummm o.k. Nice pic though ... another 5 minutes of my life wasted on espn.com.

LOL. Nice post Waz.

If she were to try a shot at Q-school she'd fail miserably. The LPGA will obviously turn her down and for a good reason. No other youngsters should be allowed to take that career route...there are too many stories of athletes going professional too soon and failing miserably....at least til now it's been 18+ year olds who were legally adults. Don't let high school kids be added to that list as well.

In fairness to ESPN, the article was put out by the AP.

But since I like bashing ESPN.com as much as the next guy, why do we care enough about this for it to make the front page? Didn't George Steinbrenner sneeze today? Or the Red Sox board the team bus in an orderly fashion?

This girl sounds incredibly cocky for someone that hasnt done anything. She couldnt even qualify for the open, yet shes talking about becoming Michelle's rival in the future, as well as Maria Sharapova's in tennis.

Please.. do something first!

wouldn't her hair get wrapped around the shaft and inhibit her downswing?

let her play, what's the difference. if she was a genious, they would let her into Haaaaarvarrrrd.

"Let" being the key word there. It's a professional tour. Earn your way on with your clubs......not your claims.

the LPGA needs the ratings. 280yds isn't bad. she doesn't have time to earn her way in. doesn't she have homework, etc.? lol

The AnnikaPGA is doing very well at the moment. If Annika doesn't win this week the interest will plummet. :nodsmiley

I bet 280 reflects her longest drives. THey say Michelle Wie is 300 yards, but in tourneys she always avgs like 270-280...

could be wrong tho, i guess....
