Kiawah Island Lands 2012 PGA

Pete Dye's Ocean Course has been selected as the host for the 2012 PGA Championship. This is fantastic news.

With Whistling Straits already in the rotation, the PGA Of America has aggressively beat out the USGA to introduce new, modern-day great golfing venues into their championships.

This development, as well as some anticipated, can only serve to enhance the PGA Championship.

Interesting selection. While I like the classic style courses, it does help the PGA to be having some of their majors at newer layouts like Whistling Straits and Kiawah. The PGA seems to have found a good mix to keep the fans happy....when's the last time you heard grumbling about a PGA Championship setup? There are some very solid courses coming (back) up here for the PGA....Baltusrol, Medinah, Southern Hills, Oakland Hills, Hazeltine, Whistling Straits, Atlanta Athletic Club, and now Kiawah.

I loved the addition of Whistinling Straits too the rotation, because for the first time ever a major had been brought to Wisconsin, sadly my mom wouldn't shell out the $500 to go tho, but my aunt & uncle who kno little won free tickets

My grandparents have a condo on the island. It's a beautiful place to go BTW. Last year, I played the Ocean with my uncle who is a 2 handicap. He said it was the toughest golf course he had ever played and finished with a 90. I think there will definetley be a little grumbling in 2012. I can't wait to see it. Now if only we can get another "War by the Shore" down there, we might win the Ryder Cup.
