Who Will It Be?

With Sergio Garcia and Adam Scott applying heat from below, which of the so-called Big Five do you see falling out first?

I went with Vijay as well for the same reason. At 42, he's got a few more really good years in him. The rest are all in their mid 30s or younger, so they should be around a while.

I'm going to say Ernie. I think Retief will actually move up in the next couple years, even though he hasn't won this year. But I see him being close to #1 in 2 years. Phil and Tiger will stay up there. Vijay's age may catch up to him and I think Ernie has already peaked.

Mickelson; sorry, I know there's alot of PM fans, but I just can't see him hanging on, especially when it comes to majors. Retief,Tiger,Vijay all seem to have more discipline and not sure about Ernie.

Scott could be a force if something happens soon.

stagday

If everything goes the same as my pickem's, PM will win the last 2 majors and Scott will turn into obscurity. lol

Well, a win this week in Europe would probably keep him in the top 5 for a longer while, where he's off to a good start. See, I think Retief is going to get better the next few years. He's still young, he's bloomed a little later than Phil, Tiger and Ernie, and he's got the mental game and consistency that's only going to make him stronger the next few years. I expect to see him in the top 3 or 4 in 2 years.

I think Phil is gonna drop out and Adam Scott jump in. Goose is to consistent. Having said that, I see Phil bouncing back into the big 5 in a coupe of years.

I vote Phil. He's a streaky putter, and to be in the top 5, you can't be 3 and 4 putting when it counts.

Well, obviously this poll is now closed. And I must admit to being surprised that Ernie received the most votes. When I created the poll I really thought either Retief or Phil would be the leading vote getter.

It's hard for me to vote against my favorite player, but I'm just a tad concerned about Phil. He's really battling his swing these days and, more importantly, he seems to be showing signs of burn-out. He goes through slumpy periods every now and again.

As for Retief, he just doesn't seem as dedicated as Ernie, Tiger and Vijay. And he doesn't post the top-three finishes nearly as often. Those top-three's really garner the world ranking points and money.

I think Ernie will be back strong, he had a rough patch (by his standards) in 2001 when he had finished second to Tiger at a bunch of Majors and hadnt won ne for about 5 years. He came back stronger than ever.

Retief's had a rough year with the putter. I think if he can get his putter back, he'll be back to being one of the best, and I expect him to rebound. But watching him 3-putt all over the place in the 4th round at Pinehurst and watching him miss 1-footers in Ireland last week was sad to see. I think Ernie's had a similar problem w/the putter. But over the last few years, Retief's posted a lot of top-5s that have kept him near the top in the world.
