Tom Lehman opened with a 3 over round to be on the cut line. Poulter and Harrington struggled to break 80. Goosen ,Clarke and Davis in good shape.Campbell,Monty and Westwood all over par.
This is the Ryder Cup course, so it certainly has teeth.
This is a HUGE tournament for Goosen. And I mean huge. I think he needs a win badly to restore his confidence and help heal the wounds of the USOpen. He's off to a great start and I expect him to cruise this week. He lapped the field last year. But Johnny Miller said that he expects Goosen to struggle the rest of the year. Well, this would put a dent in that comment. This would be a big confidence boost for Goosen if he wins.
Well, Goosen's putter is obviously shot right now. He just missed a 1-footer. It was purely the putter that cost him at Pinehurst in that last round. 36-putts total and 3 3-putts in the first 8 holes will kill you. And I haven't seen him make anything today. His confidence in his putter has got to be shot right now.
Was that a solid round from Bjorn? Very steady indeed. Nice to see Thomas at the top of his game again. Jacquelin also played well in trying conditions. Wonderful finish. I can't believe he hasn't won yet on the ET. Should be a good final round.
I was watching this morning and he was at -7 thru 6 holes. I didn't watch the final round, but I went over to the Euro Tour website, and saw him at +6???? He shot an 86???? How the heck did that happen????
Some ragged play from most everyone out there. The Palmer Course is a good, challenging track with his typical risk/reward water holes. But it's not that tough. The winning score of 285, and only three guys under par, shows the quality, or lack thereof, of professional golf we saw this week at The K Club.
Tough collapse from Bjorn. Just when he looked like he was getting his stuff together.
How does someone like Bjorn card an 86 i know he can sometimes be a bit up and down but a tour pro taking an 11 on a hole and he had such a healthy lead going into the last round 4 stokes
