Yeah I saw that....amazing....hitting it through that gap in the trees and leaving himself that little wedge into the long 18th. It's too bad he had such a poor week from 75-100 yards (they said he was 2nd to last in the field in proximity to the hole from that distance), or maybe if that one fairway he missed hadn't been an OB....then he might have pulled it out.
I suppose the real question I could ask on this is: was that the best drive of the year so far? One could make a case for it, given that it was the last hole of the final round. I'd also have to nominate Tiger's drives on #16 at Doral on Saturday and #10 at the Western on Sunday as two other awe-inspiring strikes. Kenny Perry has also had a few that seemed off the charts long too, despite not seeming like a long ball hitter (he's top 5 or 6 in distance this year though I suppose), but what with 678 tee shots traveling 350 yards or more this year (topped by Graeme McDowell's 422 yard bomb), there are bound to be some very impressive drives on a weekly basis.
Yea they were saying that she shocking Stat was that Hank was 4th in driving distance last week.....right behind Sean O'Hair. Little Stadler led the way with something like a 322 average.
375 is quite respectable. A few months go, I had read of someone who launched it for over 700 yards and a 15 year old girl went 515 yards. Of course, I can't find that again. They were probably playing on an airport runway sloped away from them.
Last year's winner was 470 yards. That's almost double what mine is! I wish they used computer monitoring on the tee to see what their club head speed and stuff like that was. Plus the exact details of each of the winner's clubs would be extra nice.

I couldn't find any historical results on that site. It did say that last years winner's longest drive was 470, but it isn't clear whether that's the longest one he's ever hit or last years winning drive. I've watched the competition a number of times on ESPN and it seems to me that something around 400 yards usually takes it.
Most of the time the winning drive is in the 380-400 yard range I believe. One of the recent ones was in the shorter range because the wind was blowing into their face. The one thing to remember about these long drive guys is that they're using drivers with 48" shafts and the long drive championship is in Las Vegas, at high altitude and with a range sloping away from them. Davis Love III hit one 476 in Vegas last year with his normal driver.....with their technique combined with equipment set up specifically for increasing clubhead speed, I'd bet some of the longer pros could knock em out there in the 400+ range on the long drive circuits if so inclined. :nodsmiley
What I liked about Kuehne's drive was that someone on the path crossing the fairway could clearly be heard to say "How the did he do THAT?" Keep in mind he's not using the Penley XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX shafts that the long driver's use.
