I love the '78 sweater and I recently saw an add for a "Collector's Edition" of that very same sweater. The price was so outrageous that I've forgotten exactly how much it was already.
Honestly, I think he is wearing it for round 2 because he knows this will be his last round in The Open. Of course, I'm sure he has carte blanche to play there whenever he wants.

My bad. I guess that is what he wore for the opening round. This is what he wore for fridays round. Nonetheless, still cool to see him breakout the argyle sweater like he wore in 1978.

Actually, he wore the blue sweater today. I watched all of his round on TNT and he had it on for about a hole and a half. I think it was at the 2nd green that he took it off and was done with it for the rest of the day.
that's what he's wearing on the back of the 5 pound scottish note that was recently issued... the picture of him after '78 when he's holding the cup... nice!
I think Peter Alliss said that the blue sweater was the exact same one from 78, not just a look a like....who knows?
Personally I think it's a replica in a larger size. Look at how snug the one in '78 fits. The one today was a more modern loose fit on a heavier Jack Nicklaus.
