Am i alone in thinking that faldos game apart from his putting is still in pretty good shape and that if he went back to using his old ping putter (or that wilson one he won the masters with) instead of changing his putter as often as us guys/girls lose balls he could probably still win a tournament.
p.s the last 2 putts he made in the open where amazing.

Faldo did an interview in Golf Monthly(June 05) in which he states that because of the amount of work that he did on his iron play, for years in the late 80s and 90s, his driving has suffered and there is no way he can change his swing now.
He feels that he can no longer compete in real terms as a lot of players knock it 50-60 yards past him off the tee.
He out drove Poulter on the ninth on Sunday, so he must have something going with the big stick.
Followed him most of the way round on Saturday, its hard to figure that someone his size(6`3" AND BUILT LIKE A BRICK OUTHOUSE) doesn,t knock it miles like Daly/Woods/Singh etc and Steve Webster , who, tiny by comparison drives it miles.
Yeah, Faldo is a giant. One thing I specifically remember from the '03 Masters was standing just a few yards away from him on the 15th tee as he set up to hit. And I remember thinking about how HUGE he was and how he looked like he was going to absolutely kill the ball. Of course, I was probably wrong about the result, but he really is big.

I still think the putter is a problem for him but he didn't putt as bad as he has in the past maybe he is getting some of his confidence back with the way he is hitting the ball and also the hunger is still there he will hit a shot that isn't straight out of the centre or not where he wanted the ball to go and you can see he still gets annoyed with himself so the passion is still there.....

Do you think he sometimes gets a bit hard on himself? I know the passion seems to be there but just on occasion he seems to make out 1 or 2 shots were the worst he,s ever hit and they don,t end up in too bad a spot.
That's a link to Faldo's stats this past week. According to those stats, he averaged 312 at the Open. Not a bad number at all IMHO and pretty good for an older guy.
Edit: Link goes to his scorecard; you have to click "Statistics" to look at his numbers for the week. For some reason it doesn't allow a direct link to the stats.

Yes, he was saying in the interview on BBC that he was driving the ball well with the new drivers.
Those putts on the last two holes were brilliant, his reaction, was that he wanted to go right out again & play another round.
Sounds to me like the man could well be due for a decent comeback...
I wonder what would have happened if the open had carried on for a fith day & all the old boys like Faldo & Langer etc carried on, as they seemed to be catching up with the leaders fast, towards the end of things.
