Actually, I do think that age and sex is on the minds of a large number of those trying to beat her. You don't think the men who she is playing against don't want to be label and having been bested by a 15 year old and a girl to boot?

You don't think the older LPGA players are thinking they don't want a 15 year old to play better than them and make them seem like lesser players?

I think the only ones not bothered by her age and sex are Paula and Morgan and I think, also, that they have a specific reason for wanting to beat Michelle and it's both pride and to prove they are better.

In case you didn't read it somewhere (I don't remember where I did...this board or another) it's not just the fans and media that keep stressing her age, it's some of the PGA players that have recently ... this week... expressed amazement at her accomplishments for "a 15 year old of either gender" as Phil Mickelson put it.

I'm sorry you are tired of hearing about her age and feel it's overstated, but there are lots of folks that are truly amazed at the accomplishments. You might have noticed that whenever anyone who is younger than the norm accomplishes a higher level, particularly in sports, the age is always brought up. For example, 15 year old soccer player being signed to play pro soccer, 15 year old baseball player being signed by the Mets, 13 year old tennis players such as Jennifer Capriati. winning tournaments These are accomplishments beyond the norm and for that reason, the age is mentioned. All of the examples I quoted are young people who are or will be playing in an adult world, but that doesn't take away from their being extremely accomplished as young people in adult sports. and that fascinates most people.

Ok, Ok, Wie's a 15 year old phenom playing with adults. We get that.....for the millionth time. My point is that her age is very old news. At what point does the fact that she can play become more newsworthy than her age?

LOL.
Wouldn't that be a little unfair?
Unfair to who? To be the best you have to beat the best........unless the best doesn't play.

I'm still not sure I heard it all correctly, but that was my understanding of it.
The reason for turning pro would be to legally accept the sponsorship millions that are waiting for her the day she makes the announcement that she's turning pro. My guess would be the contracts and the millions will already be in her pocket when she makes her announcement.
