I've also heard that he doesn't like having to adjust his yardages one week and then readjust the following week...not that he can't, but subconciously it is fairly hard to do so quickly.
This likely has something to do with it. Tiger's future in The International might be changing very soon. There is talk that, when the TOUR comes up with it's new schedule, The International may be designated as a World Golf Championship event.
Sure did. It was right before CBS' coverage expired. Phil attempted to cut his drive on the 10th (or was it the 9th?) off the right-side of the fairway and pulled it. It took two huge bounces off the cart path and ended up 438 yards from the tee, but in a horrible lie. He made par.
Phil really got things going later on the back nine, with four straight birds. He's now only six points out of the lead with 36 holes remaining. C'mon, Phil! Keep it going, buddy!
I suppose with this format of golf it is easier for outside contenders to play `catch up` if the leaders get a little tight tomorrow, especially with 36 holes remaining. I wonder if Sean O`Hair could make a charge tomorrow?
Fitness must come into the equation too if the air is a little thinner and with 36 holes to play...

Good to see Goose and Phil up near the top. Would love to see these two battling it out at the end today. Also, good to see David Toms playing well again.
Nice to see Retief break through and take one today. He's sorta been the forgotten guy at the top lately, although his play hasn't really been up to par. From all accounts, Baltusrol will play very much like a US Open this coming week....which should favor a guy like Retief. He should be right up there. Jobe had a rough day from the looks of it. Other than that, it looks like my call on CH3 was pretty good.
I think Goose, Vijay and Tiger are all good bets next week. And the reason why is all 3 of those guys have improved their putting. Let's face it....Goose was missing 5 footers left and right since round 4 of the U.S. Open, and Vijay the same, but both men have seemed to fix their putting problems. Goose was 1st in putting avg. this week.
And although I don't think he'll pass Phil or Ernie this week, this win will likely put Goosen in striking distance of the world #3 spot. He's probably one more win away from the 3rd spot.

Goosen didn't win the tournament as much as Brandt Jobe lost it. He just didn't have what it took to close out the tournament.
I didn't see Phil hit a 400+ yard drive but I know that it's possible. I played a course just south of Castle Rock last Tuesday (Bear Dance) and I Punched a 300 yarder (downhill) that wouldn't have gone more than 250 yards in the Northern Virginia humidity.
Sorry to bring this old thread up, but I have a funny story from this event.
I was hanging out between the 15th & 16th holes early on Sunday (before the CBS cameras were rolling). I was standing behind the 16th tee box. For the life of me, I can't remember the pro that did this, but he absolutely SHANKED his tee shot almost dead right 125 yards into the corporate tent village! As soon as he hit it, you heard about a thousand people go "ooooooooh" (in that "ouch, that's gotta hurt" kind of way).
He finds the ball in the middle of the village, piles of pine needles under his ball, and pine trees blocking his view. He mulls over the shot for a good 8-10 minutes, occasionally laying a club down and stepping on the clubhead to get the general shot angle he needs. He finally takes a swing, and, even though it hit a tree branch, he manages it to land it on the green! And THAT'S why he's a pro!
