Walker Cup

GB and Ireland young guns are playing the cream of American youth in Chicago this week.

It's time we let you win one, as of the four main competitions between Euopean professionals and British amateurs, the only success USA has had is the Curtis cup for young ladies.

Thank you Lefty!

Save me a seat at "the ratty pub across the pond" just in case I ever decide to use my passport........again! I've saved you a seat at my pub too! It's in the second stall on your right!

The "Men's" room doesn't. Did you say "tie?" At this point a tie would be a moral victory for our American teams. :nodsmiley

I caught the very end of this and it was pretty exciting after it looked like an easy USA victory for a while there. Hey, at least we can win one of the competitions once in a while.

Maybe we should move the Walker Cup to South Africa or Australia as a gesture of good will.

I am very emotional," said Lewis. "I have been around a lot of Walker Cups and I can tell you that this is probably the greatest Walker Cup team that has played.
Amazing, USA finally win one and their captain announces that they are the best ever . If they had lost, would he have described them as the second best ever?

Well looking at the talent of the US players in the Walker cup event, it made the Brit lads look like Saturday Hackers. We might have, a lot of decent pro's on the circuit, as far as Britain & Europe goes, but some of the future talent due to apper in the next 5 years or so could turn the whole thing on its head, & probably due mostly to the likes of Tiger, getting the young lads interested.... He's good for something then...lol

I couldn't find this exact quote anywhere in any stories I read about the Walker Cup. Please share your source with us.

Obviously too embarrassed your side of the pond to report it.

USA have always had the depth, they do have over 250 million to choose from compared to our 50 mil. Thought the USA team looked very classy on the course, and certainly showed their older brethren what team spirit meant.

Liked the look of the 16 year old, he might have some game.
