Exclamation 10 and 5 yr exemptions expiring in 2005

Greetings ...

There are a number of 10 and 5-year exemptions expiring in 2005. Let's check them out --

10 Years (1995 Champions)
Ben Crenshaw (Masters)
Corey Pavin (US Open)
John Daly (British Open)
Steve Elkington (PGA)
Lee Janzen (Players Championship)
Greg Norman (NEC World Series of Golf)

Crenshaw tees it up only at the Masters. Pavin has been playing well of late and is looking to secure at least a Top-125 exemption for 2006. Daly will play in 2006 as a 2004 Tournament Winner. Janzen is 141st in Money (8-21-05). Elkington is good thru 2007 as 1997 Players champion. Norman is also the 1997 World Series champ (last time the 10-yr pass awarded).

5 Years (2ooo Champions)
Vijay Singh (Masters)
Tiger Woods (US Open, British Open, PGA)
Hal Sutton (Players Championship)

Tiger and Vijay are exempt by other means. Sutton has already used his One-Time Top 50 Career Earnings Exemption, but could use a Top-25 Exemption - if he STAYS among the Top-25.

ALSO ...
Any winners of regular open and invitational events (other than Grand Slam Majors, the Players, Mercedes Championships, Tour Championship and WGC events) in 2000 and after are exempt to play in the specific event for up to five years. Winners of the same type events prior to 2000 are exempt in those events for either life or 10 years from the time of winning.

Thanx-A-Lot, Frank-0-Sport

Since Norman's two British open wins now count, he has 20 total PGA wins, and he became a life memeber. However, I think this is irrelevant, since he hardly plays on the PGA anymore.

Greetings Golf Fanatic ---

Absolutely right on Norman. The Life Member exemption would be in effect, beginning 2008.

As for the PGA Tour's handling of the British Open, WELLLL -- That will be a topic in itself for another day.

Thanx-A-Lot, Frank-0-Sport
