All-Time Play-Off Records

Just a little statistical tid-bit for your consumption. Here are the best career play-off records in PGA TOUR history, ranked in order of winning pct.:

Tiger Woods 7-1
Phil Mickelson 7-1
Walter Hagen 5-1
Vijay Singh 6-2
Sam Snead 12-5
Tom Watson 9-4
Curtis Strange 6-3
Hal Sutton 4-2
Dave Hill 4-2
Willie MacFarlane 4-2

Of interest:

Jack Nicklaus 14-11
Arnold Palmer 14-10
Ben Hogan 8-12
Gary Player 3-10
Billy Casper 8-8
Byron Nelson 6-6
Lee Trevino 5-5
Johnny Miller 1-5

And the biggest 0-fer in TOUR history unfortunately goes to Ben Crenshaw, who appeared in eight play-offs and lost every single one, two in majors.

Very interesting....I would've never thought some of the guys on the losing end would be there, such as: Hogan, Player, Miller....Ben, wow, I never knew that.

I wonder what Greg Norman's record is? I am sure it will be pretty bad.

Folks, I'm sorry that I forgot to mention that, in order to qualify, a player had to have a minimum of five play-off appearances. My bad.

But Robert Allenby's 3-0 record is a nice start. Now if only he'd get back on a winning track.

StlCard nails it by knowing that it was, in fact, Billy Mayfair, at the 1998 Nissan Open. Many folks, however, might have forgotten that the '98 edition of the Nissan Open was contested at Valencia Country Club, and not Riviera.
