PGA Grand Slam of Golf

With Retief out due to a scheduling conflict, Vijay Singh is his replacement in the PGA Grand Slam of golf later this fall in Hawaii. I realize it's a silly season event, but TNT must be pretty happy to have Tiger, Phil and Vijay with Michael Campbell to round out the foursome. Should be worth a look when the time comes.

i think adding vijay is great for the event as vijay tiger and phil aren't exactly the best of friends. i hope this competitive atmosphere is going to create tension that can be cut with a knife

The field looks great. Too bad they don't play match play. Usually, the Grand Slam of Golf goes by without much attention but I wonder if it will be "hyped" more this year. If it is, hopefully, the competition lives up to it.

If this event mirrors it's history, one guy will play like he doesn't want to be there. Two others will play just to beat the guy that guy, and one player will run away with with it. Hopefully this year will be different........but I doubt it. By that time of year, all the "rivalry" stuff has already been played out. Do any of them want to lose? Certainly not, but let's not confuse this with a major.

It was pretty interesting watching phil throw up that 59 last year. Maybe his low score will inspire Tiger and Vijay to try to top him.

With the three big names in there, it probably means Michael Campbell will be the winner. I disagree that it's a waste of time Lefty...that's a time here that signals the beginning of winter and the realization that you won't be playing golf for another 3 months at minimum sets in. At least this event, along with the other silly season events, provide a bit of entertainment. Heck, maybe the European Tour should consider adding it as an official event...it'd be the strongest field they had all year!!

Speak for yourself, down here in Texas we get our share of nice days in December, January and Feburary to get in some golf .

Well, since here typically means the place that one inhabits, I was speaking for myself. You can get away with that statement now, but come those months, it'd be wise to keep the fingers tied or we may do something rash.

This year's PGA Grand Slam Of Golf will be as good as a "silly season" event can possibly be.

I remember a few years ago, when Tiger eagled the last hole, and then eagled it in the first hole of a playoff to beat Vijay, there was nothing silly about that. It was fun to watch.
