I don't really have anything against 50 year olds I just think younger guys would do better representing our country. Funk & Couples get a good round now and then whereas Crane always seems to go low.
Experience...experience...experience! Funk and Couples have a combined President's Cup record of 9-5-2. That's pretty good representation in my book.
Keep in mind that the President's Cup is not stroke play and it's played by 2-man teams until Sunday's singles matches. Until the "old guys" prove that they no longer belong there........they belong there. :nodsmiley
The threadjacking here is about the worst I've ever seen. The original thread was about the health of a young family man. Next time, take it to fun and games.

If this is the worst you've ever seen.......you haven't been around long! Toms' story was thoroughly covered and it looks like all's well that ends well. The purpose of any thread is to stimulate golf conversation/discussion and this one about Mr. Toms has done just that.
Does anyone think that Toms' medical situation will affect his play in the President's Cup? You know it will be a hot topic. :nodsmiley
Nice pic...I like ice cream...but I don't don't "get it".

You don't "get it?" After the edit.....neither does anyone else!
Well, stagday gets it:

I agree, it's not really proper to talk about a possible replacement for next week here.
Others obviously didn't get it, and their ensuing posts shifting the topic from David Toms's health to the Presiden't Cup were about as relevant to the original topic as the ice cream picture.

I'll tell you what telluwhat........if you'll raise your right hand and solemnly swear to read every post, in every thread, and to specifically identify each and every thread-jacker, we will appoint you an honorary member of the "Thread-Jack Police "
The link to David Toms' health and the President's Cup was bound to happen given the circumstances of his condition and the proximity of the President's Cup. Once a ball like that starts rolling there's just no stopping it!
I'm sure when GR members realize that you are on the job and ever vigilant for the dastardly offense of veering off topic that we will all tow the line! :nodsmiley After all.......nobody wants to be found guilty and sentenced to read the posts in the "Threadjacker's Anonymous" thread!

leaguegolf,
I generally prefer to overlook such things, including spelling and punctuation errors, rarely posting or responding when they occur.
This particular thread caught my attention because the focus was shifted away from a potentially serious health condition of David Toms. I made a simple statement about it. It's certainly your prerogative to respond to my statement and try to make light of my point. As I said, some folks get it, and some folks don't.
Well whats points list got to do with it. You want to pick the hottest golfers not the ones that earned points from last year. Ryan Moore would also do very nicely, not to mention Sean O'Hair.
I hereby appoint you as chairmen of the board of the Ryan Moore fan club.
Considering the experience and caliber of players on the U.S.A President's Cup team Ryan is lacking in experience and accomplishments to make the team. Every player on the team is proven winner on the PGA Tour and several have won majors. No doubt Ryan is talented but he still has a ways to go to earn a spot on such a prestigious team.
Why don't let the at least win a tournament or make the top 30 of the money list before he gets considered for the team?

I "get it," :nodsmiley but after Toms was reported to be fine and he still planned to play in the President's Cup the "seriousness" of his condition and the seriousness of the thread became a moot point. We were all concerned about his health and I would never make light of that. Nobody would.
It wasn't the concern for David's health that I was making light of. It was your reaction to a thread getting a bit off topic. Take a look around.......it's a golf website and it happens all the time. As moderators, we try to keep things on track (well mostly ) but when getting off track leads to friendly conversation and open discussion, we don't consider it a bad thing. Should we?
