What's Happened to Tom Lehman

Since his tie for second place finish in the Players Championship and tie for 13th in the Masters, Lehman has not finished in the top 30 in any event. Stranger is that Lehman did not play from the Masters until the Colonial (over a month later) and has played Memphis, Kemper, and the World Series outside the three majors (making it a total of 7 events). Has he lost his desire to compete. He has slipped to 39th on the money list and probably won't make the Tour Championship no thanks to his lack of,playing, which has also affected his performance when playing.

I'd venture a guess that being named Ryder Cup captain may have something to do with Lehman's slide. :nodsmiley

You'd think he'd played in a few more events to see the players. I don't hink he's just gone to events without playing in them.

The Ryder Cup is a year away so Lehman really doesn't need to be looking at players at this early date. There are media interviews, personal appearances, and thousands of details going on behind the scenes that a Ryder Cup captain is responsible for and that's what I was referring to.

Excuse me while a shed a tear for poor Tom and his lowly standing on the money list, which will earn him well over a million bucks this year.

He has made it quite clear that if he is in the top ten then he will play not just sit in the sidelines. So he is fired up. Could be the added responsibility of being captain.
