They just can't get it right !

You would think with the wealth of information available that individuals who earn a living from reporting golf could get their facts right. Reading an article about the LPGA event that concluded Sunday it stated that " Swedes Liselotte Neumann and Catriona Matthew tied for second ". Mrs. Matthew was born and raised in North Berwick Scotland and most certainly is not a " Swede ". Likewise with the commentary during the final round of the Open at St Andrews this year when Monty was nipping at Tigers heels " in case you are wondering folks, the last Englishman to win the Open was Paul Lawrie at Carnoustie ". Neither Monty or Paul are " Englishmen " both were born and raised well north of the border ( unless Maggie Thatcher had Hadrian's wall moved up without anyone noticing !!! ).

The Romans could not move Hadrians wall any further North and the thought of Maggie"Poll Tax"Thatcher ever coming to Scotland makes me......well.
As a true Celt(Welsh/Irish, living in Scotland, married to a Highland Lassie) I,m not going to let people with no history/heritage whatso ever upset me! I can tell you!
I forgive them their ignorance.
By the way did you hear/read about the couple from ? whilst visiting Winsdor Castle, Husband to wife "Its a beautiful castle but why did they build it on the Heathrow flightpath" Oh Lord!

As a true Englishman , I do laugh when Scots are described as English. The concept of Britain, divided between the home countries is alien to many people overseas.

As a general rule, if they win they are British, if they lose they are Scottish !

The Irish suffer even more from this than the Scots.

Bring back the home internationals, people would undestand better!

The overpaid, overpriced, play acting, injury faking "Nancy Boys" would say "Thats too much football in one season" and the English FA would have to sack their manager after every N.Ireland game! Win the World Cup you are having a laugh ain,t ya Sven!

Actually the first in line to moan would be Alex "Purplenose" Ferguson, a Scot, but the point is well taken!

Of course you are right! Old Grumpy Fergie would be the first to moan but he would be closely followed by those 2 other great "English" managers Jose and Arsene or perhaps Benitez or Johl or....

Do I sense some jealousy here?

As an American whose folks came over from Scituate, England in the 1630's it never ceases to amaze me why the Scots, Irish & English can't get along as well as we Irish, Italian, Portuguese,Swedes,Armenian,Finns,German,French,Eng lish,French Canadians,Spanish, Scots and in the last forty years just about every Latin American country known to man.....As we Americans.

Before this turns into a flame-fest, let's just all step back here and take a deep breath...there is no country in history without flaws or ugly happenings. We as golfers should be level-headed enough to communicate with each other with civility, regardless of where we're from. I guess what I'm saying is...let's try to play nice fellas.

I think we were playing nice... no danger of a flame fest IMO. The Scots, Irish and English get along just fine, national rivalries aside.

I was referring as much to the last comment before mine as I was the earlier comments ...any time you start talking national rivlaries, it can get heated in a heartbeat.

Could not agree more! some of my best friends are English and I would not swap them for anything and watch all "our" countries come together when its Ryder Cup time.

On the sports field ,there is a heathly rivalry between all Brits, that unites uswhen we play anyone else, e.g . Australia at cricket,Lions rugby and ,at the risk of wasting an opportunity, THE RYDER CUP
