Q-School

Being relatively new to the sport, I'd appreciate it if anyone can explain Q-school, what it is and how it works, how you get there, etc.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Frank-0-Sport this is right up your alley. In simple terms almost anyone can enter Stage One if they have $4,500. Stage two has exempt players as well as survivors from Stage one (cost $4,000) Stage three is a six round affair that has more exempt players for one reason or another plus Stage Two survivors Cost $3,500. The top 30 get PGA exemption The next 20 partial exemption Then the rest get some kind of Nationwide exemption up to a point.

What kind of format is it? Tournamant? Stroke play? Match play? A combination? Are different courses played?

The format is stroke play 1st stage four rounds,2nd stage four rounds. Third and final stage six rounds. There are many courses used for 1st stage, about six for 2nd and two courses for final.

Top 30 and ties get their tour card.

There's no partials after that. The next 50 including ties get full nationwide exempt status. The rest get conditional Nationwide status.

Fully exempt means you get into an event no matter who is in.

Conditionally exempt is dependent on where you stand and how many exempt and conditionally exempt people on a higher pecking order are in.
