Michael Allen, a regular visitor of q-school, shot a 64 to take a 2 shot lead. It is no surprise since he's succeeded 6-7 times already.
Right now 28 golfers are at 69 or better. The bubble number is 70, where 21 players are tied for 21st.
Barring any unexpected weather conditions, I expect 138/139 to be in the top 30 after tomorrow. My prediction is that 417 will be the target top 30 score (assuming the weather remains the same).
The guys below entered 30 or more Tour events in 2005, didn’t earn enough to get their 2006 card by finishing in the top 125 on the 2005 money list, and are now battling it out at Q School (where the top 30 and ties get full-exempt status on Tour for 2006).
Alex Cejka
Brian Bateman
Briny Baird
Cameron Beckman
D.A. Points
Frank Lickliter II
Franklin Langham
Hunter Mahan
Kevin Stadler
Michael Allen
Neal Lancaster
Nick Watney
Skip Kendall
Steve Allan
Kevin Stadler who was having a great tournament until they found a crooked wedge in his bag ( where he would have made enough money to get in ) is not going to make it this year.
John B. Holmes who is leading halfway through the 5th round was a leader in the 1st & 2nd stages also. I guess the guy can really golf his ball. I have a nephew by the name of John Holmes but its not this guy. Does anyone here know his history or anything about him???

John B. Holmes... Does anyone here know his history or anything about him???
I think it must be this guy:
Quote:
John Holmes, 23, Campbellsville, Ky. – Holmes’ steady play earned him a spot on the 2005 USA Walker Cup team. He had his best showing in top collegiate play, finishing sixth at the 2004 NCAA Championship and seventh at this year’s NCAA. He also had a 10th place finish at the 2005 Monroe Invitational and he was 12th at the 2005 Northeast Amateur. In 2004, he played on the USA Palmer Cup team and he reached the third round of match play at the U.S. Amateur. Closer to home in 2004, Holmes won his second Kentucky State Amateur title in three years and won the Kentucky State Open. He shot team-leading scores during the final two rounds of match play to help Team USA to victory over Team Japan at the Collegiate Golf Championship challenge. He qualified for the 2003 U.S. Open and was the stroke play medalist at the 2003 U.S. Amateur. Holmes won the 1998 state high school title.
So here's where the >30-event players were in the standings after 4 of 6 rounds at Q-School:
T1 D.A. Points
T1 Michael Allen
T10 Alex Cejka
T10 Nick Watney
T24 Frank Lickliter II
T32 Briny Baird
T39 Hunter Mahan
T52 Neal Lancaster
T63 Brian Bateman
T68 Franklin Langham
T91 Cameron Beckman
T119 Steve Allan
T132 Skip Kendall
T142 Kevin Stadler
Pretty widely dispersed among the 165 players who started. Go Briny!
Briny went to college in my hometown. They use to practice and play at the course where I worked and I would watch them practice and what-not. I'm glad to see him doing well. Simp
Cool, Simp. I'm rooting for Briny. He played in so many Tour events this year and missed the top 125 by so little, I felt bad for him. Then (don't quote me on this), somewhere I came across a quote from him in which he said he's been playing better lately and had a good attitude about Q-School. Gotta like an optimist.
Briny is 3 off the pace so he needs to go -4 or -5 under tomorrow which he is capable of. Because of his 127th finish last year he has at least a partial exemption next year anyway. I'm rooting for him.
Yeah, he should be fine. You gotta like his chances of ending up on tour even if he doesn't get his card through Q-school. He should blaze through the Nationwide tour if it comes to that. Simp
So, you're from Valdosta, GA?! Baird played for VSU and was a D-II All-American, IIRC. My brother-in-law knew/played some casual rounds with him back in the day.
I was born and still reside (haven't escaped yet ) in Valdosta (& 2 degrees from VSU). How'd you get to NJ?
Hope BB can get his card; looks like it'll be windy on the courses tomorrow.

*edit* saw your reply to my old welcome/greeting post. Where did you work, VCC? JP

Yep, born and raised until I was like 22 and them went into the Marines and met my bride while I was in. She was from NJ and I decided to stay with up here. I worked at Stone Creek for about 2 years I guess. I started there when it opened. I was a cart boy. I loved that job! We'd work from like 6:30 - 2:00 and then play golf until dark. It was an awesome job for someone just out of highschool (Lowndes High...State Champs Baby!) and liked to play golf. I still get back about twice a year and visit the family and play.
I was down a few weeks ago and played Kinderlou. That's a nice course! I guess my heart is still at Stone Creek though because I always like playing there. Golf up here is rediculous! Not only is it fairly expensive to play but to join a club in my area will run at least $8,000 for your initiation. You guessed it...I don't belong to a club! Way too much money for this redneck.
