Clarke or Harrington? to take Tiger's title.

Michael Campbell leads after day 1 of the Target World Challenge.
Keeping the top of the leaderboard warm for the Irishmen behind.

Clarke in 2nd and Harrington is in 3rd. Who's going to bet against an Irishman taking the title? For Harrington it could be his second.

Another thing, why are last weeks winners, Monty and Furyk doing so bad? Too much partying maybe.

Kinda early to count anybody out, especially Tiger. Knowing nothing of the conditions, course specifics, etc. I can't make a guess on who things favor, but I do know Tiger is never out of it after just one round!

Tiger is thirteen shots back after two level par rounds. I'll take any bet against him.

Hold on Lefty, that lead has slipped to just 12 shots. Cambo back to 12 under.

Only Funk, and Monty, behind Woods. Could Tiger end up last? Not likely.

I meant to say that Tiger has ran away. I'm still taking Tiger. That's about as far out on the limb as I've been in a while.

Are you feeling kinda lonely?

As good as Tiger is you've got to give the rest of the guys in the field their props. The only way Tiger has a shot is if the other guys LET HIM with some poor play. Right now Micheal Campbell and Darren Clarke look like the odds on favorites.

Hey Tiger has a really good shot at this. I figure if he can got out on the weekend and shoot 62-59 then that might get him into a playoff.

Campbell has come back to 9 under, so Tiger is no longer out of it.
Tiger is just 6 shots off 2nd place.

What stumbles at the end of the round:
Campbell: double bogey, +4 for last 4 holes.
Clarke: bogey last hole.
Harrington: bogey last hole.
Perry: double bogey last hole.

That's some pretty tough competition in front of him, though. I'd be surprised to see Tiger really make a serious challenge. I watched a bit of it last night and it was interesting to see Campbell lip out a bomb for birdie and then wind up having to sink a 4 footer to avoid a 4-putt double. He seemed to lose his concentration joking around with Clarke about the lipped-out putt.

Tiger is at 3 under with 5 holes left to play on day 3.
Only a superb finish could put pressure on the guys ahead of him.

Glad that Clarke is fighting for the lead, just 1 behind Campbell.

Campbell -10
Clarke -9
Perry -8
Harrington & Couples -7

The Irish have really taken over after day 3.

Clarke -14
Harrington -13
Campbell -13
Perry -11
Everyone else -out of it.

It is great to have the European tour beating everyone out there.
Harrington and Clarke are European tour members who have taken cards on the pga tour, but are predominantly European members.
Campbell is a European Tour member and isn't even a member of the us pga at all.

Perry is the only one doing the job for the US.

US players are DOMINATING 5 of the bottom 6 positions. Come on Monty.
This isn't an anti-US post, I'm just sick of having the US win all the golf tournaments.

A 15 man field in the middle of December is more of a silly season event than it is a golf tournament. I heard Darren Clarke say yesterday that he normally treats this event as a party and his scores are getting in the way. He said he'd have to slow down on Saturday night because he happened to be in the lead.

It's good to see the better European players playing well in an event other than the Ryder Cup!
