Why do Americans assume that the only reason International players play outside USA is because of appearance money?
The Middle East and China are building events with large purses ,spreading the game overseas.

Reason: Didn't want Lefty to be arrested for breaking those strict spelling laws in his country.
I don't believe international players play those events only for the appearance money. I'm sure much of it has to do with their desire to support those tours that have a place in their past. But guaranteed money doesn't hurt.
I was reading today Tiger was paid £1.2m appearance money for the HSBC tournament in China in which he came second to David Howel. And all the time I thought he enjoyed playing in Asia because of his Asian background and because he was feeling comfortable playing in Asia and all the B.....about wanting to give back to the sport.
I don't "assume" the only reason International players play outside the USA is because of appearance money ...........but I do wonder how stopping appearance fees would affect those International players travel plans.
