With four holes left to play in his second round at the Western Open, Tiger was 3-over for the tournament with a projected cut of 1-over. He just birdied the par three 6th hole (he teed off on 10 today) to get to 2-over. He still has the par-five 9th to play, so he still might hit the number.

Beat me to the punch - just came here to post the same thing. I am not pro or anti Woods, but it has become strange not to see him in the hunt. I like most of the tour players and don't root against anyone, but it was enjoyable to watch someone just obliterate the course like Tiger did. In 2000 he played the best anyone has ever played. I like it when anybody, not just Tiger, becomes the very best in their field. Golf is fickle - people have commented on his swing chances, but I sure as heck don't see it. He doesn't hit his "stinger" shot like he did often at Pebble Beach, but other than that, he looks the same to me.
Well, looks like Tiger ended at +1. He's currently tied for 63rd. Looks like he'll probably make yet another cut unless the later scores improve a lot more.
I think that Tiger has simply lost the incredible magic that he possessed for many years, a stretch of almost superhuman accomplishment, during which he never missed a putt he needed or failed to pull off a shot he needed. It was like watching a god play the game. And we were lucky enough to witness it.
That kind of luck, superior performance, metaphysical alignment of the planets, whatever you want to call it, doesn't last forever; and Tiger is now playing like a gifted professional golfer, not a god. His body and mind are not in perfect synchronization, and shots go astray and putts roll off line.
Maybe he'll get the magic back and maybe he won't, but I wish we would all savor what we saw, and stop holding these morbid death watches or circling round Tiger like vultures waiting to pick at the bones of his every mistake.
I don't think he will ever dominate like he did before, but once he gets back to form he can sureley win atleast 2 or 3 a season. The feilds these days are so strong that a couple guys have a good week and they will win.
He says he is close but he just does not want to admit he needs to get his swing back to where it needs to be. Sure he can probably beat 99% of every golfer in the world on any given day, but latley he has been struggling. I wouldn't call it a slump because he isn't mnissing cuts, but he is having troubles.
I hope he gets it back. It seems like a mini version of what happened to david, but i doubt it will get that far.
It's funny because when Tiger had his run of dominance, I didn't really like him much. I was drawn by his personality but I still wanted people to challenge him and rooted for others to do better. Now that it seems there are a few players willing to challenge Tiger for the top spot, I'm cheering for Tiger because I would love to see some great battles. I'm not really a big fan of one person winning week in and week out but I would definitely love to see a group of 4 players or so at the top of the leaderboard each week battling for all of the titles.
