Not the same events, not the same courses, not the same fields, not the same equipment, etc. etc. etc.
Again, she'll miss it.
The Sony has great fields with top Europeans and Ernie Els/Vijay Singh participating. The field is good, period. The courses? Well, they're different each week on the PGA TOUR and the players play different ones, yet are compared against one and other at year end by scoring average (Vardon trophy?)

Leaguegolf wants us to talk about the Sony Event only, in this thread and I agree with him.

There is just one item I have to pull you up on though. You said "not the same equipment". The fact is Tiger had the same equipment as his opponents in his first pga events. Michelle has the same equipment as her opponents in her first pga events. Equipment having moved on doesn't matter because so did their opponents equipment.

Back to the relevant issue.
I voted that she would make the Sony Cut, and then finish in the bottom 50%.
If she makes the cut, I think it wouldn't be by much, and certainly wouldn't expect her to pick up places over the weekend. She would be overjoyed at making the cut and I wouldn't expect her best golf on the weekend, for her first cut made.
The main thing I hope for is a good performance. It is progress that counts. Two solid rounds of golf would be nice.
I asked everyone to please keep this thread about Wie playing the Sony. There's plenty of room in the 24/7 Michelle Wie thread for useless speculation about Wie and Tiger. If you want to match their careers, take it over there.
Let's keep this discussion on this thread to Wie at the Sony.

I can't imagine anyone would ever be matching Tiger's and Michelle Wie's careers Doc! Quite frankly, the only career to match with Tiger's is Jack's, Lord's, Hogan's or Jones', ultimately though probably just Jack's.
I have compared Tiger's and Wie's 1st attempts on the PGA TOUR. Now if you're asking me only to refer to or make that comparison in a certain thread of someone else's choosing............. I just can't promise that, especially if I believe it's germane to a particular discussion. I mean, that would be like starting a thread that pertains to Michelle Wie's junior golf accomplishments, or lack thereof, and asking everyone to limit their discussion of it to that individual thread. Though we've read many references to that record in many different threads, I don't think it's necessary to limit them to a specific thread.

Like I stated earlier, this thread is about Wie and what happens at the Sony. If you can't keep your posts pertinent to that, then don't post here. If you want to discuss her career, compare her stats to Tiger's, or predict what her future will be, then do so in the 24/7 Michelle Wie thread.

Does this look like a weak field?
