It is Getting Harder for Her to Make the Cut

She is under more and more pressure to make the cut. Certainly the novelty is wearing thin. I think she feels she has to make it within the next two years, or no one will really care. The Sony Open might not even give her an exemption at that point.

Frankly She needs to Win on the PGA First

before taking another sponsor's exemption from a men's event.

I hope you mean LPGA with your comment...cause it'd be kinda impossible for her to win on the PGA without a sponsor's exemption.

From a Golf Digest (electronic, or paper...I have no idea) article:

Quote:
The Las Vegas Hilton Race and Sports Book last week posted 500-to-1 odds on Michelle Wie to win the PGA Tour's Sony Open in Hawaii and actually received several bets on her, according to its golf oddsmaker, Jeff Sherman. The Hilton also offered proposition bets on Wie: plus-300 to make the cut (meaning that a bettor would have to wager $100 to win $300) and minus-400 to miss the cut (a bettor would have to wager $400 to win $100). "Most of the betting [was] on her to make the cut," Sherman said.

Interesting...would you place a bet on her?

Card, I wonder if Phil placed a wager? Remember, he won big money picking the Ravens the year they surprisingly won the Super Bowl. He likes these big odds........

Nope.
In the poll I picked her to make the cut and finish in the bottom 50, but I amn't confident about that. It's not an easy thing she is trying to do.

I think the Sony will give her exemptions provided she puts in decent performances.
As regards winning on the lpga, I don't think that matters one bit to her taking sponsors exemptions, unless she were to be a full time lpga player and still not winning. With getting just 8 exemptions on lpga she can't be expected to necessarily win.

Wie is, and has been, a huge fan draw for the Sony and the sponsor is showing good business sense by inviting her. As long as Wie plays reasonably well I expect she will continue to be invited whether she makes the cut or not......and deservedly so.

The results of the poll were something like this:

Make cut & finish in top 50% = 1 vote
Make cut & finish outside top 50% = 14 votes
miss by 1-2 shots = 4 votes
miss by 3-4 shots = 4 votes
miss by 5 shots = 4 votes.

I think that's a pretty fair estimate, cause I checked it recently enough.
