So you're saying Michelle athletically missed the cut?
I was saying that when you have guys like Tiger, who work so hard to have themselves in the best physical shape, it makes it even harder for a woman to do so brilliantly, just like MW did in the second round.
You two are certainly the Yin & Yang of all the Wie threads. Did so!....Did not! Will to!.....Will not!
Wie played horribly and she played well. The only thing this tournament proved is that she couldn't make the cut. You'd have be blind not to see Wie's talent and potential and you'd have to be just as blind not to see that she doesn't belong at that level yet.
Since I've been known to be "blind" at times myself I've got an extra set of dark glasses and and a white cane for each of you! In the meantime, I'm training a couple of seeing-eye dogs for emergency use the next time Wie enters a PGA Tour event!.....
I seem to have come in on the end of all the Michelle Wie threads but I'm a little confused to why she's competing on the PGA tour, doesn't she really need to knock Anika off the top of the LPGA first, just seems like shes getting ahead of herself a little.

I can see it now...
"Dear Mr. Smith,
We understand you were extended a sponsor's exemption to the Nissan Open. We understand, however, that you have yet to tee up against Annika Sorenstam, let alone dominate her. So we're sorry to inform you that by PGA Tour rules you will not be allowed to play. We suggest you apply for a tee time with Annika in the near future so you may pursue your PGA Tour career.
James M,
your question is intelligent enough, but there is an answer to it.
She is playing on the pga tour as much as she can, because her goal is to be a pga tour player. Sure she would also like to win womens tournaments, but her goals are really set on is the pga.
Many people have stated that she should beat Annika, and then when she is better than Annika, only then should she try for the pga.
I disagree with this, because it is my belief that if she were to settle into lpga courses, she would not need so many shots. She would not need to develop parts of her game. She would be hitting a wedge on all of her approach shots.
Therefore, if she waited and then tried the pga, she would be at a massive disadvantage, when she would have to use irons on approach shots. Each of the men, would have been used to this, but it would be new to Michelle.
That is just one example, but there are several other ways, that if she were to settle for just playing on the lpga, that her game would suffer, and she would not develop as much as a player.
The bottom line is this. If Michelle Wie wants to have any chance of playing full time on the pga, she needs to continue just as she is.

Well said Rodney! Although the ones whose manhood is threatened probably have some more convoluted logic to spew on this thread.
Isn't she limited to 8 events on the LPGA tour this year due to her age ? (which BTW, have not started yet) If that's the case, why shouldn't she accept as many PGA sponsor exemptions as are offered her ? It's not as if she embarrassed herself this week. There was absolutely no one in the field under anywhere near the pressure to perform as Michelle and she showed her ability to bounce back Friday.
When she qualifies for a PGA event then attitudes will change. As of now she has not done so. She will belong there when as everyone else does, when she earns it. Think of it in your lines of work, a 16 year old has never had the job you have worked for and takes an opprtunity from you so the company can get headlines in a paper or magazine. What would your opinion be then?
Wow! Doesn't everyone realize that this is business? Everyone is making big bucks off this situation, and they don't care if she belongs there or not. She's young, cute, and can hit it farther than most men. Sign me up, that's why I would watch.
Even her initials are made for public sports figure adoration. Take MJ and TW and what do you get? MW. She'll continue to get exemptions and who knows, maybe she'll put together two perfect rounds and make a cut someday.
Just a thought.......When the the PGA Tour turn into a training ground for those not yet qualified to play there?
I think it will stay as it has been.
Only truly exceptionally talented youngsters will get this opportunity, like Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Justin Leonard, Ryan Moore and Michelle Wie.
I think it's great that she can hit the ball so far and I look forward to seeing her play some more but can you really see her competing with Tiger, Phil, Vijay and Ernie because I can't.
