Bubba can smash the ball definitely and is in an awesome position being his first event. Just to make a point here since a lot of the posts here in the forum are about getting more distance. Bubba hits it a mile compared to David Toms who is more of an average distance guy and still Toms is killing the field. I think it shows that distance hasn't a whole lot to do with how well you can play.
Sorry to get off topic. :)
When David Toms is on his game he can play with ANYBODY in the world. He really impressed my last year with his win at the WGC match play event at La Costa.
Maybe I am confused, but didn't Bubba earn his tour card by being 21st on the nationwude money list. With gore's battlefield promotion, they gave the 21st person a pga tour card. If this was the case, why would he not be qualified to be in the field?
How can you say he lacks success when he earned over 200k through 24 nationwide events last year? I would venture to say that you haven't earned a dollar on tour, and the only money Michelle Wie has earned on tour is through "freak show" appearance and endorsement money.
I will agree that sponsors exemptions are just that - exemptions a sponsor can give to anyone meeting handicap requirments. Everyone knows about these and as such they do not limit the field.
I do however strongly disagree that Bubba lacks success as he has shown a good bit of success on the nationwide tour. I also do not see what would make him a scrub. I would gladly be labeled a scrub to play golf for a LIVING and earn 6 figures a year doing it.
Is Bubba the best there is? No Is he a scrub? Do wie even have to ask that question?

I guess I worded that rather awkwardly. I didn't mean to imply that Bubba Watson or any of the other guys with varying degrees of exempt status were scrubs. I was referring to those playing under sponsors exemptions only. As I understand it there are 'X' amount of them and they go to whomever the sponsors choose to invite. I'm not aware that they impact otherwise partially exempt players opportunities. If my assupmtion is incorrect I apologize.

Yeah I like watching him play. Cause like you said, when he's on...he's on. It's like he's throwing darts at the flag on his approach shots.
