I don't know much about him, but when watching the Nationwide the last few years his name was mentioned a good bit...good to see new blood and wish him well.
I read that article...average 334.5 yards last year on the Nationwide Tour? Very impressive, but we'll see if all that clubhead speed produces results on the big tour...so far it looks good I guess.
Hey you guys need to look out for JB Holmes too...my old neighbor there and boy does he have game made for PGA...heck he won Q-school! Be ready for old John!
And don't forget, folks...Bubba went over to famed and fabled Huntingdale to play in the Australian Masters, and took eventual winner Robert Allenby to a play-off. I'm watching the final-round replay as I type.
He is having a great 3rd round (as he is still playing)
-7 and tied for the lead. This guy is going to make some noise. At least now they can focus on a legitimate potential winner on the PGA tour.
Bubba can smash the ball definitely and is in an awesome position being his first event. Just to make a point here since a lot of the posts here in the forum are about getting more distance. Bubba hits it a mile compared to David Toms who is more of an average distance guy and still Toms is killing the field. I think it shows that distance hasn't a whole lot to do with how well you can play.

I took note of that when Finch mentioned it on Friday.
OT Droogy, I like your Avatar. I know that you were "in the tank" for Phil way back when and even during his "long drive contest" phase (he almost clipped me at Avenel once!!). Anyway, nice to see your loyalty and Phil's talent rewarded.
man can he crush the ball...398 witha cut. he seemed very in control of the drives even though he was pounding it, but pulled an iron or fairway wood on holes where his length could possibly get him in trouble on Sunday.
came in -12 in 4th place.....
When the field was first set Bubba watson was the first alternate. He was the last person to get in the field and almost did not thanks to Michelle Wie.

He "almost didn't get in" thanks to his inability to qualify otherwise. Good luck Bubba, but don't blame Michelle for the scrubs lack of success.

Not to mention the fact that the number of sponsor's exemptions is set by the PGA Tour, and there are some at every event, so she wasn't taking a spot from anyone.

Maybe I am confused, but didn't Bubba earn his tour card by being 21st on the nationwude money list. With gore's battlefield promotion, they gave the 21st person a pga tour card. If this was the case, why would he not be qualified to be in the field?
How can you say he lacks success when he earned over 200k through 24 nationwide events last year? I would venture to say that you haven't earned a dollar on tour, and the only money Michelle Wie has earned on tour is through "freak show" appearance and endorsement money.
I will agree that sponsors exemptions are just that - exemptions a sponsor can give to anyone meeting handicap requirments. Everyone knows about these and as such they do not limit the field.
I do however strongly disagree that Bubba lacks success as he has shown a good bit of success on the nationwide tour. I also do not see what would make him a scrub. I would gladly be labeled a scrub to play golf for a LIVING and earn 6 figures a year doing it.
Is Bubba the best there is? No Is he a scrub? Do wie even have to ask that question?
