Some would disagree im sure but in true reality to have 18 majors in Tigers era would be harder than in Jack's era in my humble opinion.....:
No, not like Babe Ruth and Roger Maris. Maris's asterisk is because he played more games than Ruth in the season he hit 61 homers. Not because they played in different eras. 18 is 18 regardless of who, when, what, where, or how and no matter how you look at it 18 beats 14 (assuming Tiger gets there).

I'm sure even Tiger would tell you "keep a cork in it" (I mean the champagne of course) if you were to tell him 14 majors tied Jack's record. Tiger is the best there is but he's got a long way to go to be the best there ever was.

What's with all this talk of a "duel?" I thought this was a friendly golf wager between two gentlemen. A difference of opinion doesn't equal a duel in my book. I don't want to duel anyone over who's going to win the next major. I just want to root my guy on and enjoy my dinner! If I lose............then it's 5 irons at 20 paces!

League, Card introduced "deul" into it and I believe he was more or less referencing the fact of our jabs back and forth...but you already knew that.

Yes it is a wager between two gentleman and it will be interesting to see how the season pans out including the majors which is the topic of discussion here...how the Top 5 WR's perform in them.

I don't recall anyone who's voted for me to speak their opinion on it...all the one's who believe Tiger will have the edge seem to have keyboard access....

What's up with that??? Afraid of hearing from League about it or afraid to take League on??? C'mon supporters let's show them I don't have Jelly Fish behind me....

OK then. I took golf-a holic's side. Tiger is a great player, and i wouldn't be surprised to see him win a few times over the course of the year, maybe even a major... but it's simple. 4 against 1. I doubt that Phil will win one this year, and unless Vijay improves his putting... but I believe that Ernie and Retief are due- so if they each take one, and someone like furyk takes one, then, even with Tiger's, League comes up short. There. It was a gut feeling. It's pretty hard to argue against those.

Just for the sake of asking a stupid question, what is to happen if, say, Phil was to have a horrible season, and about midway through the majors (say, between the US and British) spiral out of the top 5? Would he still be on golf-a-holics squad, or would the person who moved into the top 5 take his place?

Afraid of hearing from League? Afraid to take League on? What's up with that? It's an internet golf poll......not WW III! Anyone that's afraid to post their opinions around here is certainly in the wrong place!

Again, the bet is very specifically spelled out in the first post of this thread.

It's Tiger versus (VJ, Goosen, Mickelson & Ells)...just those who are the Top 5 World Ranking right now....who wins a major out of those earns his guy $20.00....

League has Tiger and I have the 2-4 position guys noted above.

So, did you guys pay off within the allotted time? Mickelson wins the Masters and Woods wins the Open...and maybe the PGA. Not keeping score (maybe someone should), just curious.

I think Golf-a-holic disappeared from the forum long before this was firmly established. That's a shame to, because I kinda liked the guy and bought some decent golf books from him.
