Chad Campbell, wkend, Runaway Train or Loose Caboose?
Just wondering whether you think Chad can hold up for 2 more days. Of course I'm routing for my lefty Phil, but just hope he does well whether he wins or not. Glad to see Verplank up there and Couples playing respectable.
At the Sony Open, Chad fell apart on the last day starting out tied with David Toms. Will he "hold or fold" under the pressure again this week? Gotta admit, he's put 3 nice days together!

Don't know if this will jinx Chad, but geesh...no bogies through 3 entire rounds !!
1 C Chad Campbell -5 16 * -20 63 66 129
2 T9 C Scott Verplank -7 F * -15 68 68 65 201
3 T2 C John Senden -3 17 -14 70 63 133
T4 T2 C Pat Perez -2 F * -13 60 73 70 203
T4 T6 C Phil Mickelson -4 F -13 66 69 68 203
Wouldn't you know...Chad bogeys just after Bulls' post. The jinx is on.
I think Chad is running on some high confidence. He has been playing quite well and its nice to see. And I think Chad will continue to play well. But I think this is Phil's week.
Phil played The Classic Course Friday and did quite well...five birds to one bogey. He looks very good coming out of the gate this year and tomorrow he has the easiest course in the rotation...Bermuda Dunes. I have a feeling The Mick is going to bust a 62 or 63 and put a lot of heat on Chad Campbell.
Hopefully, Sunday's final round will boil down to a shootout among three or four guys, including Phil and Chad. In that scenario my money is on The Mick.

Droogy...you know, I noticed that right after I posted that he still had a couple of holes left....yep, I should'nt have said it.

I was thinking the same thing while watching today, Droogy. Phil is due to really chew up one of these layouts.
If Chad can keep playing good, solid golf, someone will have to go really low on the weekend to catch him. Of course, at the Hope, it's a given that someone will do that...it's just a matter of whether or not they'll be the ones closer to the leaders.
From what I've seen in the first three rounds, it has been the putter which has kind of slowed Phil down just a tad. He seems to be just a tick off on his speed. But Phil generally turns that around quickly.
During his off-season Phil experimented with a 47-inch driver, so you can bet his swing is well-grooved. And the stats reveal this. The greens at Bermuda Dunes are the least complicated of the four courses. Go low, Phil!
Well, Phil's hittin' a bunch of greens...and he's just not holing any putts. He has parred all three par fives he's played. Looks like the low round just isn't going to happen...today.
Neither of the two leaders has played really well today, giving guys like Parnevik, Huston and Senden a chance on the back nine if they can get hot. Phil just had a mediocre front nine and probably is too far back now at -18.

Phil Nickelson's putter really let him down this week. Not that he played bad but he KNOWS he left quite a few out there, and it would have taken only 3 or 4 of those to put in right in contention for the win.
Considering it was his first PGA Tournament in about 3 and half months and he hadn't played a lot of golf lately I think he'll this tournament as motivation to tune up his game.
I would expect to see the same thing with Tiger next week. Both these guys really build their games to get ready for the majors.
