So do understand this right, that basically anybody can shell out $400 or so right now and try to Monday qualify? How exactly does it work? What are the restrictions?
Surely it can't be that I just call up the Westchester and announce that I'll be Monday qualifying for the Barclay's this year and I'll see them in June?

Didn't the second paragraph of the article spell that out? If you pre-qualify, you qualify for the qualifier!

No, I believe if you pre-qualify, you are qualified to qualify
But I thought I remembered someone on here saying a while back that for their section (it was in the Carolina's I believe) that they had to be a Class A PGA professional in order to have access to Monday qualifying.
I can't imagine that they'd let any ol' yutz with 4 Benjamins show up and be allowed a shot at playing a Tour event...

Let's see if I have this straight now.......If you pre-qualify you qualify for the qualifier! I think that's it!
I remember reading hilarious stories of a few "any ol' yutzes" finding their way into British Open qualifiers over the years.

This doesn't discuss the new "pre-qualifying" but it is what's on their website right now. My guess is the 2 handicap rule will apply to the pre-qualifier, as well.
6. What is Monday qualifying?
In every PGA TOUR open event there is an open qualifying round conducted by the PGA Section where the event is being played. The four low scores will advance to that TOUR event. This opening qualifying round is normally held the Monday of tournament week and is open to all professionals and amateurs with a United States Golf Association handicap of 2 or less.

Actually, the handicap requirement for amateurs is now scratch. Someone at PGATour.COM needs to update their info.
Someone once said that professionals do not necessarily have to list a handicap. Even if that is true, I doubt we have many plus-10 pros out there trying to qualify.
RE Someone's rap on Class-A PGA Club Members: In 1975, a Class-A member named Doug Tewell joined the Tour without having to go thru Q-School. He went on to have some degree of success.
Beyond that, I don't really know if Class-A status is indeed a requirement for Monday Qualifying.

Sorry,
But I just tried qualifying for the Mark Christopher Charity Classic in California(Nationwide Tour) and had the Application in my hand for the Buick Open and you only have to be a certified 2 or better handcapp. Not true havig to be a scratch. But at the time of the nationwide tour qualifying I was a .04hc. No you do not need a "class A" , I am just a stagehand. And for PGA Tour events it must be labled as an"Open" ie Nissan, Buick etc.

Interesting...
I was looking at the MCCC, as it looks like my duck-hook woes may be at an end and I can finally get back to shooting par golf (we'll see if the latest epiphany holds up!). How did you do? What kinds of numbers got in? If my long game returns, I can finally get into fine-tuning the short game and hopefully start racking up the sub-par rounds.
Or, the "epiphany" turns out to be a "Band-Aid" and I'm doomed to shoot in the 80's for ever more
