Seems like he will birdie all of the par-fives but otherwise not much going for him today. Any particular reason? Overall I'm sure he will do fine in the tourney but he wasn't exactly tearing up the course on his first day back to 'work'.
Hitting only one fairway out of 14 and being last in the whole field in driving accuracy could have something to do with it.
But it's kind of like last year, his accuracy off the tee can be horrible but still make a high percentage of greens in regulation, he seems to have a gift for escaping from whatever trouble he may find.
Do you think the new SQ has a lot to do with his lack of accuracy?
Probably. He is testing different shafts with the same SQ head this week. Having said that, it wouldn't be a big surprise to see less than stellar accuracy numbers until he finds the right shaft.
It could also be related to the fact that he took several weeks off without playing or practicing.
Thanks for the golf history lesson.........you've explained things perfectly. Does this also mean that a player that's playing terribly leading up to a major has never won one?
BTW Tiger shot -1 today and yes, I'm sure he'd say he played poorly. That doesn't bode well for you when he starts playing well now does it? Isn't the Buick a four day event? You may be the only person on the planet that would relate a -1 score to possible poor play at the Master's......which is still 2 1/2 months away. Twist that!
Exactly! Hey, Tiger shot 40-32 for an even par 72 in the '97 Masters only to ligh it up and win in a landslide. If Tiger makes the cut, he's in contention. A struggling Tiger still beats half the field in any tournament that he plays. Simp
