Both first time winners this year are struggling. I believe they've played in all the events, and the only event they earned cash was in the Tournament of Champions in which both did horrible.
Since they have played every event, one has to wonder if it is time for them to take a week off.
I've been watching out for Sean O'Hair, it would be nice for him to do well early in the year, so he could just play golf, and not have to worry about his card so much.
It's not going to plan just yet, but the season is young.
For Jason Gore, it looks like he will miss the cut by one, so I wouldn't really describe that as too bad. His 69 in the 1st round was good. I think he is getting there, and will improve over the next few events.

They both have 2 year exemptions for winning last year. No worries about the card 'til next year.

O'Hair has way more potential than Jason Gore.
Jason Gore had his 15 minutes of fame because he was the surprise leader for a while of a major tournament having been almost unknown before. He has a good "everyman" story but that alone does not translate into success on the PGA Tour.
Sean O'Hair WON the John Deere and furthermore was second in the Byron Nelson which in a sense was even more impressive given the depth of the field in that one.

Gore will be around for awhile. He didn't make it to the tour for being a leader at a major...he made it by winning three consecutive Nationwide Tour events. Immediately after his "battlefield" promotion to the PGA Tour he went on to win the 84 Lumber Classic.
They both have a lot of talent and have two years to really prove themselves worthy of staying on tour.
Looks he is taking time off. He also decided not to play in the Hope, but changed his mind at the last minute. However, Jason Gore is scheduled to play at Phoenix. Maybe he will decide not to play at Pebble Beach.

I have to wonder how much time Jason Gore spent working on his game in the off season. He attended at least 2 "Silly Season" events. Between the holidays and being a "Media Darling" I'd like to know what he did to IMPROVE his game during the off season. He's probably best served by less camera time and more RANGE TIME.
